General Summary: The Office of Institutional Effectiveness provides leadership and support for internal and external reporting of campus data, including creation, analysis, interpretation, report generation, and dissemination. The Senior Director of Institutional Research and Assessment (IR&A) is responsible for data reporting, developing and maintaining assessment, and institutional research/effectiveness processes with a focus on continuous improvement. The Senior Director serves as the steward for institutional research and assessment, generating quantitative and qualitative data for quality improvement and informed decision making.
Reporting to the Provost/Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs, the Senior Director will lend technical, content, and leadership expertise to a dynamic and engaged staff committed to integrating equity and student success in the use of quantative and qualitative data at Middlesex Community College. In addition to guiding the department, the Senior Director will provide feedback to the college leadership, staff, and faculty on issues related to student success and assessment, oversee the documentation of the College's strategic plan and assessment projects, and assist in the development of reports, data access tools, and the creation of the next generation of research, reporting, and analytic tools. A transformational leader, the Senior Director will strengthen the culture of evidence-based decision making by instituting a longitudinal data collection system that measures student success in accordance with the college's equity-centered goals and the state-wide strategic planning goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead and inspire a committed and talented IR&A staff.
Apply principles of equity and inclusion to data collection, analysis, and reporting
Responsible for the accurate and timely submission of local, state and federal mandated reports such as HEIRS, IPEDS, and Perkins
Maintain Institutional Research reporting calendar of all mandated and scheduled reporting responsibilities
Possess extensive knowledge of critical programs, including SQL, SPSS, Access, Argos, Tableau, Excel
Serve as the first point of contact for internal and external requests to support institutional effectiveness
Lead continuing development of data warehouse, establish Tableau User's Group, and create and conduct training for Tableau users
Support faculty in assessment initiatives, documenting through dashboards the assessment process.
Introduce and guide the use of data visualization tools.
Serve as liaison with data scientist on college-wide projects.
Promote data governance policies and serve on data governance committee
Cultivate a positive, customer-service atmosphere in responding to all institutional requests
Provide comprehensive data support for the college.
Prepare and present board-level data analysis and presentations
Collaborate with admissions, enrollment services, and registration to maintain data integrity.
Develop and maintain databases to support College offices
Collaborate with the College's IT Department and all College offices on related
Develop the next generation of dashboard and reporting tools
Conduct research and assessment activities that comply with accreditation and grant requirements
Work with Information Technology to develop reporting solutions using Banner, Argos, and Tableau
Support institutional grant proposals by providing data for needs assessments and institutional benchmarking
Oversee surveys to enable student feedback on College services and/or programs
Develop and maintain methodologies that will track and measure the effects of institutional initiatives and activities
Stay current with changes in data definitions and procedures, reviewing existing reports for accuracy and consistency
Support the administrative and academic program review processes with qualitative and quantitative data
Develop and maintain an Institutional Research handbook to maintain detailed instructions for all internal processes
Publish quarterly Fact Book, and Environmental Scan, and other standardized
Publications in accordance with ADA regulations
Monitor publications to ensure accuracy and appropriateness.
Maintain the Institutional Research and Assessment website
Serve as the College representative on state, regional and national institutional research affiliations.
Supervise IR&A in accordance with Middlesex Community College's policies and applicable laws
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; performance appraisals; rewarding and disciplining employees; conflict resolution.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain current knowledge of trends and practices in the field through peer association, attendance at seminars, study, and review of literature.
Serve on internal and external committees.
Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
Experience with processes for academic program reviews; assessment of student learning outcomes; and survey research methodology, analysis, and report generation.

Experience with equity-minded work and/or understanding of individuals of diverse identities such as race, ethnicity, socioeconomic level, sexual orientation and veterans including those with different levels of academic preparation, varying physical and learning abilities.
Exceptional computing proficiency with strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, academic databases, electronic records management, and other programs/platforms listed above.
Proficient with standard statistical packages and statistical research methods.
Communication, Analytical, and Organizational Skills
Excellence in writing and editing in English with capacity for critical thinking while simultaneously maintaining the highest degree of accuracy and attention to detail when preparing documents in final form.
Demonstrated organizational skills.
Exceptional oral communication skills with a customer-service orientation.

Location: Lowell Campus with occassional travel to Bedford Campus as needed. This position will be eligible for a maximum of two days of telework in accordance with the College's telework policy.
