Minneapolis College is seeking a full-time, permanent General Merchandise Buyer in the Central Services Administrative Specialist Senior classification. Under general supervision and procedural control, this position is responsible for the purchase, merchandising and return of all Minneapolis College Store general merchandise. This position also organizes seasonal and special events sales for the College Store, administers the college bus pass program, performs POS customer service, assists with physical inventory, and directs student employees.
Knowledge of business English (speaking, writing, and reading orally) sufficient to understand and effectively perform all job duties.
Demonstrated knowledge of retail purchasing, marketing, and displaying of resale merchandise sufficient to perform all responsibilities in a campus store environment.
Demonstrated knowledge of retail POS systems.
Math skills sufficient to understand vendor discounts, margins and mark ups, and conduct POS transactions.
Knowledge of inventory systems and controls sufficient to maintain accurate records of materials, supplies and equipment using inventory software.
Skills in using word processing, spreadsheet, and other software applications sufficient to prepare emails, memos, invoices, reports.
Knowledge of general office procedures, policies and protocols to efficiently perform all job duties.
Customer service skills sufficient to communicate effectively with vendors, students, employees, and the public.
Skills to operate modern office machinery, including cash registers and personal computers/software.

Salary Range: $19.87 – $26.89 hourly; $41,488 – $56,146 annually Placement within the salary range for the Central Services Administrative Specialist Senior position is determined on the basis of relevant experience and in accordance with the 2021 – 2023 American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) labor contract with the State of Minnesota.
