The Highlights Reporting to the Director of the Center for Black Diaspora (CBD), the Assistant Director's primary responsibility will be to collaborate with the Director in planning and managing major initiatives and programs toward the fulfillment of the Center's mission. The Assistant Director will also manage students, organize the planning of events, organize meetings for CBD's Advisory Board, oversee the budget, and help evaluate the impact and outcomes of CBD's programs.

Primary Responsibilities: • Assist with creating, planning, and managing special programs, including but not limited to conferences, symposiums, and quarterly events. • Co-create, edit, and publish special projects, including but not limited to podcasts, newsletters, and scholarly publications, etc. • Assist in managing CBD grant projects and serve as liaison between CBD and grant partners, including but not limited to the Social Transformation Research Collaborative (STRC). • Maintain non-circulating Reading Room, including Tiny Cat. • Assist with evaluating the impact and outcomes of programs by collecting and analyzing data. • Assist in preparing, editing, and publishing Annual Reports. • Create communications and publicity (including developing CBD's social media). • Organize quarterly Advisory Board meetings, record, maintain minutes, and serve as liaison between CBD and Board members.
Managerial/Supervisory Responsibilities: • Collaborate in hiring, training, and managing student staff.
Financial Responsibilities and Dimensions: • Manage budget for CBD.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Your Education & Experience
Master's Degree required, preferably in the Humanities or Interdisciplinary studies.
3-5 years of experience.
Assist in managing, training, and mentoring of student staff.
Manage budget for the Center.
Other Skills & Abilities Required
Must be able to work independently and is a self-starter.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Has the ability to adapt quickly to various audiences and new tasks, to multi-task, and to manage time effectively.
Pays attention to detail and is accurate and complete in one's work.
Advanced ability with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Adobe Suite.
In-depth knowledge of university operations, policies and procedures, and culture of higher education.
Ability to collaborate with other staff members and units in the university.
Flexible & adaptable; able to work with a sense of urgency when needed
