The Associate Director of Development, Alumni Relations is responsible for overseeing the alumni and parents of alumni (PALs) programs at Menlo School. This includes: alumni and PAL giving, alumni and PAL engagement & networking, events, and communications for these constituencies. This role is charged with motivating alumni and PALs to be engaged and involved with Menlo School, as well as being active donors of the school through its annual giving campaigns.
Strategize and manage annual giving campaigns targeting alumni and parents of alumni (PALs)
Identify, cultivate, solicit, and close major gifts with alumni and PALs
Manage a portfolio of alumni with the capacity and inclination to make major gifts ($100,000+) to Menlo
Create a robust reunion fundraising program, including determining fundraising strategy for each reunion class, managing reunion volunteers, and soliciting gifts
Plan and execute Reunion weekend in the fall (including Athletic Hall of Fame), working closely with the Alumni Executive Committee
Plan, develop, and implement regional events for alumni in and outside of the Bay Area to increase engagement
Plan, develop, and implement annual PAL events on campus
Recruit, train, and lead the Alumni Executive Committee
Manage MenloConnect, the online networking platform for Menlo Alumni, as well as other alumni-focused social networking tools, like LinkedIn and Facebook
Working closely with the Communications Department, plan and develop a meaningful communications strategy that enhances alumni and PAL engagement through Menlo’s website, digital magazine, eblasts, newsletters, and social media platforms.
Education and Skills Needed:
A minimum of 3 years of experience in fundraising and/or alumni relations
Being an alum of Menlo School is a huge bonus!
Enthusiasm, love for education, and a positive “can do” attitude
Demonstrated ability to strategize, implement and build constituency programs and activities
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and the ability to represent Menlo School professionally both internally and externally to our constituents
Proven success working as part of a team, independently, and with a diverse group of people
Firm understanding of web technologies and applications, including Google Workspace, Adobe Creative Suite tools, and social media platforms as well as knowledge of current communication trends.
Familiarity with email marketing platforms such as MailChimp or Constant Contact is a plus
High professional and ethical standards for handling confidential information
Comfort in a fast-paced environment, ability to organize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously with close attention to detail and prioritization to meet deadlines
Ability to travel and work evenings and weekends as needed for regional and local events
