Position Information Under the general supervision of the Early Academic Outreach Programs (EAOP) Director, the EAOP/P20 Regional Coordinator will prepare program participants for post-secondary college enrollment through academic advising, workshops, and presentations. The Regional Coordinator will implement grade-appropriate college-going workshops, materials, and activities to provide students and families with information to ensure students are academically prepared and college-ready. The incumbent will form academic alliances with schools, districts, and community agencies. The Regional Coordinator will recruit, select, train, and supervise two part-time UCR student employees. Education Education Requirements
Degree Requirement Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. Required
Experience Requirement 2 - 4 years of related experience. Required Minimum of 2 years advising and supporting educationally disadvantaged and academically at-risk students regarding postsecondary opportunities and careers. Preferred
Minimum Requirements Special Condition Requirement Must be able to work weekends (Saturday and Sunday), evenings, and attend overnight trips; traveling by air or automobile to attend training sessions, conferences, and workshops. Required Must posess or obtain a valid California Driver's License in accordance with the Department of Motor Vehicles Required Must be able to pass a Department of Justice & FBI background check. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge and experience working with a diverse student population, and sensitivity to culture, race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, and socio-economic status. Experience advising and supporting educationally disadvantaged and academically at-risk students regarding postsecondary opportunities and careers. Knowledge of higher education institutions (UC, CSU, CC, etc.), admissions and financial aid requirements, and the ability to interpret policies and procedures to youth, parents, and school representatives. Thorough knowledge of high school graduation and college entrance requirements. Ability to maintain cooperative relationships with school district administrators, school counselors, principals, teachers, and community contacts. Knowledge and understanding of K-14 education.
Additional Information Demonstrated ability to conceptualize, plan, and coordinate educational events that meet specific needs for program participants,
Knowledge of University policies and procedures relating to admissions, housing, financial aid, and student support services.
Proven ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with diplomacy and tact.
