Northwestern Career Advancement (NCA) provides comprehensive career and employment services for undergraduate and graduate students across Northwestern’s academic units. Specifically, the Program Advisor sits within NCA’s Operations Team. The Operations Team leads and manages technology, vendor relationships, large-scale events such as career fairs (virtual and in-person), data collection, and logistical operations for the entirety of NCA.
The Program Advisor will be responsible for significant portions of the day-to-day management of the NCA career portal Handshake, including but not limited to: managing events, job and interview requests, and providing strategic support to employers and campus partners who utilize the system.
In collaboration with other members of the Operations Team, this role also supports signature programming for NCA, cultivates and maintains key technology partnerships, leverages assessment to make data driven recommendations for the office, and helps maximize efficiencies across NCA operations.
Workplace Flexibility: This position is eligible to work remotely up to 2 days per week.
Develops plans and arranges programs - meetings, workshops, seminars, trainings, events, company visits, information sessions, career fairs, etc. designed to provide information, promote resources, and to build internal and external relationships.
Ensures that program/event details including communication, venues, presenters, travel arrangements, materials, refreshments, and technology are arranged and completed in an appropriate and timely manner.
Coordinates the collection, analysis and reporting of required information for surveys, review documents, public information documents, etc.
Analyzes evaluation data from internal/external participants (students, faculty, employers, etc.) to assist in program development and updates.
Identifies improvement opportunities in regard to technology that will better enable advising program to achieve its goals and objectives.
Reviews processes and recommends changes to incorporate state-of-the-art technology as appropriate into administrative, resource, service, etc. components.
Implements strategic plans and contributes to process by reviewing existing practices and recommending enhancements and improvements.
Participates with area/unit senior staff in the conceptualization, development and presentation of materials used in operations.
Ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, local and NU laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.
1 year program/project administration or other relevant experience.

Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree; OR appropriate combination of education and experience and 3 years' career counseling/advising in higher education or 3 years' of industry experience; or other relevant experience required; OR
Successful completion of a full course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a master's or JD or higher degree; OR appropriate combination of education and experience and 2 years' career counseling/advising in higher education or 2 years' of industry experience; or other relevant experience required.
