The College of Business and Public Management offers nine graduate programs, including the nationally ranked, AACSB accredited online Master of Business Administration and SHRM-aligned, AACSB accredited online Master of Science in Human Resource Management (MSHRM), and many certificate programs.
Under the direction of the Graduate Director of the College of Business and Public Management (CBPM), the Assistant Director serves as a liaison between The Graduate School and the Graduate Director to promote and recruit domestic and international students for our graduate certificate, post-baccalaureate, and degree programs.
The Assistant Director engages with the CBPM to become knowledgeable about the various facets of Business and Public Management. The position facilitates genuine engagement and offers guidance through the enrollment process for prospective, applied and admitted students through various means of communication.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate an ability to organize and manage multiply priorities in a fast-paced environment, the ability to work independently and as part of a team with a culturally diverse community including students, faculty, and staff and experience in higher education recruitment.
Serve as the lead staff member for recruitment and admission initiatives for CBPM graduate programs including MBA, MSHRM and HR Certificate
Support the student lifecycle from an initial perspective student inquiry through matriculation and degree completion
Work to ensure a comprehensive approach to the recruitment, admission, retention, and graduation in the CBPM graduate programs
Represent the CBPM graduate programs at recruitment events including college fairs locally and occasionally out of state, open houses, information sessions, online webinars, and chats
Identify sources and leads and develop strategies to engage in innovative approaches to recruit new students and retain current students
Develop relationships with external stakeholders in the field of business including local and large corporations, professional organization leaders, not for profit and governmental agencies
Promote the CBPM graduate programs to current WCU undergraduate students
Provide customer service in person, by phone, through email, and other virtual means
Create and implement new enrollment strategies to support continued growth of the CBPM graduate business programs
Maintain CBPM graduate business program applicant and admissions data in CRM (Slate)
Develop and update multi-media tools for recruitment including email communication campaigns, recruitment videos, PowerPoint presentations, and social media initiatives
Develop and update promotional materials
Plan on-campus visits, virtual sessions, and other opportunities for prospective and accepted graduate students
Assist in the development of program specific marketing to connect with qualified and desirable applicants including printed material, web content and digital media
Provide application and enrollment data
Assist with retention initiatives related to current graduate students
Assist with re-enrollment of students by focusing on intervention efforts
Work collaboratively with departments and units across the CBPM and the University to resolve student issues
Stay current with changing institutional information including admissions requirements, programs, course changes, deadlines, important dates, costs, expanding facilities, updates in college-wide initiatives, and state and federal mandates
Serve on university-wide committee(s) as appointed
Some travel is involved, and some night and weekend hours are required
Completed or firm completion date of a Master's degree in Business, Higher Education, Human Resource Management, or a related field
One year of admissions/recruitment experience or other closely related experience
Admissions experience with graduate school population
Excellent presentation, communication, and organizational skills
Experience with CRM platforms (Slate)
Experience using PeopleSoft
Experience with social media platforms and other marketing strategies
