Required Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelorâs degree and 2 years of related experience
Demonstrated efforts in leading student recruitment and retention efforts in a university.Â Experience serving as an academic advisor for undergraduate students Experience working collaboratively with student services team
The Academic Advisor II will advise undergraduate Agricultural Systems Technology (AST) and other undergraduate students.
Serve as lead academic advisor for agricultural system technology and advise ABE students as assigned, assisting students in making personal education decisions and meeting graduation requirements including course selection
Interpret academic policies and procedures to support student success
Teach orientation course (TSM 110) and administer technology internship and work experience course (TSM 397/399)
Serve as a liaison to and support departmental and college retention and recruitment committees and other organized efforts
Coordinate and lead activities related to prospective student events such as Experience Iowa State, student visit days, transfer student events, and other departmental college and university orientation, recruitment and retention activities
Assist with implementation of the undergraduate communication plan, including creation of digital and social media communication materials and an active e-recruiting/retention program for pre-collegiate and undergraduate students
Advise and support ABE Technology learning community
Coordinate data collection, analysis and reporting for undergraduate assessment activities in conjunction with the Associate Department Chair for Teaching and the College Student Services Unit.
The successful candidate will possess
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to effectively manage a diverse list of tasks
Ability to function both independently and with an established and functional 3-person advising team
Must be able to make and justify decision choices to students and other stakeholders
Ability to communicate effectively in writing, presentation, and public speaking
Ability to work with a diverse population, and strong computer skills
Travel as needed to represent ABE student services at recruitment events
Maintain confidentiality on matters which may involve faculty, staff, and students
