Position Summary: This position, reporting to the Assistant Director of Student Care and Case Management and the Director of Center for Disability Access and Resources (CDAR), will support student retention, academic success, planning, trainings, and outreach through responding to reports of concern and referrals from the campus community. This position will serve as a case manager to students with at-risk mental health and social support needs through intervention, referrals, and connections to follow-up services. This position will provide comprehensive case management for students that experience low-medium levels of crisis and concern, including but not limited to academic, personal, financial, mental, physical health, and family issues. They will maintain an ongoing caseload, providing direct client services including initial assessment, intakes, follow up care, referring to community services, case management, short term/triage counseling and crisis intervention. This position's primary responsibility is to support students through a trauma-informed lens to offer case management services to a population of undergraduate and graduate students experiencing academic concerns. Help students navigate personal challenges and wellness (emotional, environmental, financial, intellectual, occupational, physical, social, and spiritual). Caseload percentage will fluctuate depending on community and office needs throughout the year, and as delegated by the Director and the Assistant Director.
This position will maintain knowledge and compliance of state and federal disability laws and regulations, including Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Americans with Disabilities Amendments Act (ADAAA) and the Fair Housing Act.This position will work professionally with all internal and external customers using strong interpersonal skills. They will consult with students, staff, faculty, families, and other constituents related to student reports of concern. This position will assist students in connecting with off-campus and on-campus resources and advocate for students as appropriate in helping them access services.
This is a shared position under the general direction of the Director of the Center for Disability Access and Resources (CDAR) and the Assistant Director of Student Care and Case Management within the office of the Dean of Students. This position will support student retention and academic success through responding to referrals from the campus community regarding academic and social support/adjustment concerns and ensuring equal access for students with disabilities in all aspects of campus life, as specified by the mandates of the Rehabilitation Act, the Americans with Disabilities Amendments Act (ADAA), the Fair Housing Act, state, and university policies. This position will provide brief, but comprehensive, case management assessing students varying levels of academic concern and identifying and implementing reasonable accommodations, determining eligibility, providing advocacy support and act as a resource to the campus community on disability access topics and collaborates with faculty and staff to proactively remove barriers through inclusive initiatives such as universal design.

A bachelors degree in counseling, education, social work, psychology, or closely related field from an accredited institution.
One year of post-graduate professional experience coordinating services to individuals with disabilities and/or academic and behavioral concerns.
Interviewing and intake experience relevant to student development models.
Experience using computer software and applications for word processing, email, internet searches, and data organization.
Masters degree in social work, special education, vocational rehabilitation counseling, counseling, or closely related field.
Experience providing support to individuals with mental health or learning disabilities.
Knowledge of disability laws (Sec. 504, ADA, ADAAA) and other appropriate services/accommodations for students with disabilities at the post-secondary level.
Experience working with applicable laws and regulations regarding student records (FERPA, HIPPA, Clery Act, and other legislation regarding students rights and services).
Excellent verbal communication, written communication, and interpersonal skills; experience writing concise reports.
Ability to analyze problems, identify solutions, and take appropriate action to resolve problems using independent judgment and decision-making processes.
Experience using professional judgment to solve problems and make sound decisions.
Experience interpreting, applying, and explaining laws to others.
Ability to teach learning strategies to students with disabilities, particularly related to executive functioning disorders.
Ability to mediate issues that arise in the implementation of accommodations.
Strong organizational skills and proven ability to multi-task.
Experience working with individuals of diverse racial, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds.
