Detailed Job Description Provide post-award financial administration of a large and complex portfolio of accounts, including sponsored grants and contracts, subawards, gift accounts, intramurally funded projects, research center operating budgets, special projects, Facilities and Administration ('overhead') accounts, and faculty start-up packages. Develop and administer project and program spending plans through budget management, data analysis and projections, monthly budget reconciliations, reporting, and record retention. Manage all accounting and personnel transactions, and provide financial and administrative advisement to designated program staff, awardees, proponents, recipients, contractors and project participants. Apply strong internal controls for compliance with RIT/NTID policies and sponsor regulations and terms and conditions of the award.
Contribute to the overall success of NTID's research agenda by providing support to the Associate Dean of Research (ADR). Develop and implement new and modified policies and procedures to improve operational efficiencies. Support NTID principal investigators (PIs) through creation of educational materials allowing research teams to execute their projects to a positive conclusion. Develop and deliver formal educational training to researchers through the ongoing 'PI Prime Time' series of workshops. Develop website content for the OADR.
Maintain close working relationships with faculty and staff across NTID and across multiple colleges and divisions at RIT, as well as external entities, both domestic and international. Unique project needs may involve multiple departments, varying personnel levels, and team members with varying communication styles, which also requires a high degree of confidentiality for handling personnel information, contracts, research data, etc.
Participate in Project Initiation Meetings (PIMs) where PIs learn their responsibilities and the policies and procedures regarding newly acquired extra- and intramural grants or other awards. Answer questions and lead discussions that facilitate how the post-award budget can be executed to launch the project.
Administer all financial and human resources related transactions. Monitor all account activity through monthly reporting, and adjust as necessary to resolve account deficits and/or issues;
Develop spending plans and manage all fiscal activities in accordance with approved budget. Analyze budget data and prepare budget projections. Provide guidance to PIs on budget status and progress toward meeting project goals;
Provide guidance to PIs to ensure funded projects are compliant with program sponsors and RIT research and accounting policies and procedures;
Provide support to the ADR by formulating strategies and development and implementation of new and modified policies and procedures that improve operational efficiencies;
Create and deliver formal training and instruction for researchers through the OADR-sponsored PI Prime Time series of workshops. Develop and present workshops pertaining to relevant finance and administration topics;
Serve on planning teams to develop research-related events (i.e. PI Prime Time, Research Awards Program, and Student Research Fair).
Engage in relevant continuing education activities at the local and national level.

Minimum Qualifications Education/Expereince:
Bachelors degree or equivalent experience;
5-6 years experience with business administration, project management, accounting and grants management.

Proficiency in MS Office Suite and Oracle Business Systems.

Communicate effectively with a wide range of deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals with varying communication needs;
Willingness to work toward proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and learn about Deaf Culture.
