Job Description:
The Marketing and Communications Coordinator will manage special projects, conduct
research and orchestrate contracts and purchases to meet strategic marketing and
communication goals. This position must be able to initiate a wide range of marketing and
communication activities to ensure that services and program deadlines are met and provide
project work direction to contractors and work study students.
This individual is responsible for merging strategy with creativity to develop written content and
experiences that communicate the Minneapolis College brand. A primary responsibility for this
position is writing for social media and coordination / calendaring with the goal of advancing
College programs, goals and initiatives.
This position has the responsibility of ensuring that content is well-written, engaging, timely and accurate. The Marketing and Communications Coordinator is also responsible for project
management as assigned by the Associate Vice President of Marketing and Communication.
This position may be eligible for telework according to the Minneapolis College's telework guidelines.
Required Qualifications:
- Associates degree and/or professional experience working in related fields such as marketing, communications, journalism, English, public relations, advertising
- Exceptional grammar, spelling, and proofreading skills
- Proficiency in AP style and Microsoft Office Suite
- Demonstrated ability to combine strategic thinking with creative writing and effective tactical execution in communicating what is at times complex information
- Diverse writing and editing experience with demonstrated creative writing ability in order to create marketing materials, compose letters and articles for publication
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with strong attention to detail
- Ability to manage time in a fast-paced environment, operate efficiently, meet deadlines for production, maintain several projects at one time, and deal with ,frequent interruptions without supervision
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in areas such as marketing, communications, journalism, English,
- public relations, advertising, or related field
- Two (2) or more years of work experience in marketing, communications,
- journalism, English, public relations, advertising, or related field
- Basic proficiency with Adobe software including the Creative Suite or Canva
- Awareness of how a website content management system works
- Experience and understanding in working with printing and specialty item vendors
- Experience using social media for business purposes
- Experience or familiarity with media relations
