The Highlights Reporting to the Associate Director of Employer Engagement, the Assistant Director of Employer Engagement plans, hosts and evaluates job and internship fairs and is responsible for the day-to-day management of employer outreach and internship development for one specified Career Community. She/He is responsible for all event logistics, including marketing, invoicing, employer recruitment, calendar planning, securing space and communicating with venue staff; catering, student/alumni usage tracking, event set-up and producing detailed event reports. This position also builds and manages employer relationships, connects employers with students through specific programming, and supports employer connections with faculty and student organizations. This position works closely with other members of the Employer Engagement team and members of a specified Career Community. The Assistant Director also facilitates job and internship postings, provides Handshake support and advises students when needed.
Is This You? - Manage Job & Internship Fair Program (planning, marketing, venue set up, program creation, invoicing, hosting, staffing, answering questions from students, alumni and employers, etc) and analyze event feedback to apply to future planning. Research vendors for event related purchases and make cost conscious decisions about all event related purchases. Manage pricing, invoicing, collection, depositing and tracking of all job fair employer fees.
- Manage employer outreach and engagement for one specified Career Community including outreach to new and existing employers, employer education on recruitment strategies and internship programs, on-going relationship management, and staying abreast of current employment and recruiting trends.
- Serve as a planning member of one specified Career Community team. Work closely with Career Education team members to plan and implement programming and initiatives for connecting employers and students. Build strong relationships with faculty and internal staff in order to collaborate on activities and enable stronger connections between employers, students and targeted colleges. Maintain various employer lists for the career community including target employers, strategic outreach, and employer diversity recruiting initiatives.
- Manage 1 student intern. Supervise, recruit, retain, train and provide professional development for intern including goal setting/project design, mentoring and conducting performance appraisals.
- Serve as industry expert for specified topic. Gather knowledge and develop appropriate resources for disseminating the information to the university community.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Your Education and Experience - Bachelor's degree required.
- Three to five years' work experience in a professional environment.
- Two or more years project management and/or event planning experience. Experience working in a university setting is preferred.
- One to two years' experience working in career development is desirable.
- Experience in relationship building is required.
- Public speaking experience in front of small and large audiences is a plus.
- Technical skills required include word processing, basic database, basic statistical analysis, Excel, PowerPoint and familiarity with social media tools.
- Experience working in employer relations or campus recruiting is a plus.
- Able to manage and prioritize several events/projects concurrently.
- Must possess a basic understanding of campus recruiting as well as internships and their relationship to the concept of experiential learning.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Demonstrated organizational and project management skills and a knowledge of/familiarity with social media tools.
- Candidate should be able to develop career-related programs that combine faculty/academic objectives.
- Strong presentation skills are a must.
- Ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to develop and implement innovative higher-education programs, maintain positive, creative energy while working in a dynamic and changing environment.
Managerial Responsibilities - Manages 1 student employees: Job Fair Intern - recruit, train, guide, motivate, retain and advocate for among the other staff members he/she interacts with.
Financial Responsibilities - Research vendors for event-related purchases (thank you gifts, table/chair rental, table covers, etc.).
- Manage pricing, invoicing, collection, depositing and tracking of all job fair employer fees.
- Make cost conscious decisions about all event-related purchases (catering, programs, venue fees, etc.).
Additional Information Must be able to work evenings approximately 2 times per month and approximately 2 Saturdays per year.
