The Highlights DePaul Law's Racial Justice Fellowship will enable the study and advocacy of racial justice for vulnerable communities in Chicago. The Fellow, mentored and supervised by a Faculty Director, will teach and mentor law students, develop course material and contribute to advocacy-oriented programs and projects at the law school, the university and within Chicago.
Is This You? - Supervising students on research, law and policy analysis, and advocacy skills to further racial justice
- Overseeing volunteers and interns working with the law school on racial justice issues
- Organizing conferences, workshops and seminars for university and community stakeholders
- Drafting research and policy papers in conjunction with the Faculty Director
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Your Education - Licensed to practice law in a US jurisdiction required with two to three years of experience working in civil rights or criminal justice.
Required Certifications/Licenses - Licensed to practice law in a US jurisdiction required.
Managerial Responsibilities - Experience supervising or working with students is desirable.
Other Skills & Abilities Required - The successful candidate will have a demonstrated interest in civil rights, racial justice, or criminal justice; strong oral and written communication skills; strong research skills; excellent work ethic; time management skills; ability to work independently and on multiple projects simultaneously in diverse legal areas. Applicants should demonstrate a commitment to a participatory, collaborative, inclusive work environment with a proven ability to contribute to a team of students, staff, volunteers, and faculty that is multi-racial, multi-generational, gender diverse, and includes people with disabilities.
