Pratt Institute's Office of International Affairs (OIA) seeks qualified candidates for the position of International Student Advisor. This position provides service in a range of administrative, regulatory and support functions related to international students and scholars. The primary responsibility of this position is to provide international student advisement and services, with a focus on reporting and immigration benefit processing in the Terra Dotta and SEVIS systems, and other related tasks. The International Student Advisor will serve as a Designated School Official (DSO) in the SEVIS system of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, complying with federal regulatory rules and requirements, as well as review, approve and process international student and scholar requests.
On a typical day you will:
As a DSO, field and process requests from Pratt's international student and scholar population, connecting with and assisting new, current and former Pratt students from all over the world
Support OIA systems and processes by reviewing incoming requests from students and staff, maintaining and updating databases, digital forms, websites and other materials, while keeping abreast of changes in F-1 and J-1 regulations and changes in SEVIS and Terra Dotta system functionality and reporting requirements
Collaborate internally with the OIA staff, student employees and Student Affairs division colleagues to develop new and existing resources for supporting international students at Pratt
Please also note that this position requires U.S. citizenship or permanent residency, which is a regulatory requirement to serve as a Designated School Official (DSO) for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
Experience:Two or more years of experience working in higher education desired, with a focus on the international student population as a plus.
Computer, data entry, and systems experience and proficiency
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks in a busy service-oriented environment
Demonstrated ability to work effectively within an organizational team
Attention to detail, flexibility, ability to prioritize and problem solve
Demonstrated interest, ability, and experience working with diverse populations
