Cornell University embraces diversity and seeks candidates who will contribute to a climate that supports students, faculty and staff of all identities and backgrounds. We strongly encourage individuals from underrepresented and/or marginalized identities to apply.
As part of the university's comprehensive vaccination program, all Cornell employees are required to have and provide proof of an FDA-or WHO-authorized or approved COVID-19 vaccine or have obtained a university-approved disability/medical or religious exemption, regardless of their role and work location.
New hires are required to provide documentation showing full vaccination status (that is, completion of two shots of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine or one shot of the Janssen/Johnson & Johnson) before their first day of work. If a new hire's vaccination is not complete or information is not received by their start date, the first day of work will be delayed. It is possible in some cases that an offer of employment may be withdrawn.

Cornell University's College of Arts and Sciences (Ithaca, NY) is seeking temporary seasonal admissions readers for the 2022-2023 undergraduate admissions season. Seasonal readers will be trained by the College of Arts & Sciences admissions staff to evaluate first-year applications, including the review of high school transcripts, personal essays, recommendation letters, and other application components. The admissions review is comprehensive, taking into consideration each applicant's personal, academic, and extracurricular credentials within the context of a highly competitive admissions environment.
Seasonal readers are expected to commit to a minimum of 10 hours per week during early decision application review (November to early December, 2022) and 20-25 per week during regular decision application review (January 3 through first week of March, 2023). Readers will conduct a comprehensive review on average of 4-5 applications per hour during regular decision. Training and work will be primarily conducted remotely via Zoom/phone.
Seasonal readers will partner with one admissions staff member for training and for the duration of the reading period, and will support their assigned staff member by serving as the initial readers of application files. To ensure that admissions decision deadlines are met, seasonal readers must be able to read quickly, carefully, and objectively while providing thorough notes.
All applications are read online. Candidates must have a recent computer (preferably fewer than 5 years old) with a reliable, high-speed internet connection, and must have access to a private, secure location in which to work.
We cannot consider candidates who are the parents/guardians of a high school junior or senior. We cannot consider candidates who currently work with high school students, including high school guidance counselors and independent consultants, or are employees at another undergraduate institution.
