This position works in the Global Gateway for Teachers Program which provides education students with the opportunity to spend a semester in another state or on another continent to gain real-world student teaching experience.

The Assistant Director of Global Gateway for Teachers manages the daily operations of Global Gateway for Teachers program.

Department Specific Responsibilities

• Oversees the internal management of the Global Gateway office operations including managing staff, development of surveys, data collection, report writing and creating other initiatives to best serve students.
• Maintains positive relationships with all existing partners, domestic and international, and works to develop new partnerships.
• Oversees recruitment efforts to increase student participation in existing Global Gateway programs including both IUB students as well as those at other institutions whose students join our credit-bearing programs. Oversees efforts to increase the number of collaborating universities/colleges.
• Shares load with director in meeting with, advising, supporting students in Global Gateway programs.
• Creates instructional modules for IUB students and those at partnering institutions.

General Responsibilities

• Develops and implements programs and initiatives geared at enhancing and reinforcing the academic engagement and experiential learning capacity of the student experience. Projects programming outcomes at the program, department/division, or campus level.
• Interfaces directly with students, attending student programming events and gathering satisfaction feedback from student participants to implement into future student programming initiatives and objectives.
• Collaborates with staff in own department and other departments, as well as academic and campus leaders, on shared student programming goals, often coordinating funding to sponsor student programs.
• Measures and evaluates effectiveness of student programs against projected outcomes; regularly prepares reports on impact to students and budget and may present to stakeholders on effectiveness and to secure funding for initiatives moving forward.
• Serves on committees and performs student programming research across the field of higher education and at peer institutions to identify and recommend best practices.
• Plans and coordinates communications for student programming initiatives to ensure student participation and inclusion.
• May provide guidance to other Student Programming Specialists; makes process recommendations to manager for improved delivery of service.

EDUCATION

Required

• Bachelor's degree in education, social work, public affairs, counseling, business, or related field

Preferred

• Master's degree in higher education student affairs or related field

WORK EXPERIENCE

Required

• 2 years in student services, higher education, or related field

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation. The position may require some occasional work in evenings and/or weekends and may involve occasional travel.

Salary Range: $40,000 - $52,000
