The Admissions & Applications Coordinator Opportunity:
Reporting to the Director of Operations, Admissions and Scholarship, the Admissions and Application Coordinator supports the Admissions and Scholarship team by serving as initial contact for prospective students interested in Cornell University's residential Ithaca-based MBA program. This one-year term position contributes to the enhancement of the application process and enrolling student experience for Two-year applicants. Specifically, the Admissions Application Coordinator is responsible for maintaining accurate application records in Salesforce, ensuring that applications are prepared for committee evaluation according to strict deadlines. A successful candidate will provide a high level of personalized service to inquiries and applicants by demonstrating comprehensive knowledge of application requirements, admissions policies, academic programs, career resources, and student activities across all Residential MBA programs. They educate prospective students on program options by conducting pre-application consultations, and connects applicants with relevant university stakeholders.
The Admissions and Application Coordinator actively engages prospective students from inquiry to application submission via phone, email, and through participating in monthly online Ask Admissions chats. This individual serves as the key liaison between Cornell University's Johnson Graduate School of Management MBA programs and coordinates enrollment with the Registrar and Student Services team. They assist with the deferral processes, audit of official documentation, and facilitates international student visa procedures with relevant community members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Works within the Operations Team to coordinate the application process for candidates to the Ithaca MBA program by serving as main point of contact for applicants and prospective students regarding all program and admissions inquiries via phone, email, website, etc.
- Actively engaging with prospective students to cultivate leads and convert leads to applications via regular communication and outreach activities
- Processing and maintaining applicant records, communicating candidate feedback throughout the application review process, and upholding application policy
- Extracting data from Salesforce as it relates to Two-Year application and enrollment activity; communicates data as needed and actively monitors changes
- Participating in semi-monthly Ask Admission chats to answer prospective student questions and generate application submissions
Supports new student onboarding and enrollment procedures for the Ithaca residential MBA programs by:
- Conducting the audit process for matriculating students by compiling official application materials for the Registrar's Office; communicates with students who are missing official documents
- Monitoring enrollment activity including deposit, deferral and withdrawal process; accurately updates student records
- Managing the admission deferral process and coordinating with the Executive Director for approval; update records accordingly and maintain communication with the Registrar
- Reviewing I-20 financial documentation and coordinates with Cornell's Global Cornell Office to issue I-20's; responds to student inquiries and actively monitors outstanding visa request
Required Qualifications:
Associates degree or equivalent, with at least two to four years of related experience or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree or equivalent with at least one to two years but less than five years of admissions experience is highly preferred. The Admissions and Application Coordinator must be proficient in all Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point. Previous experience using admissions CRMs and technologies such as Salesforce, PeopleSoft, Linvio, Sumo, and Image Now systems is a plus. The Admissions and Application Coordinator must possess strong customer service skills and be detail-oriented. Additionally, s/he must exhibit strong interpersonal skills, have a positive disposition and be organized, resilient, and enthusiastic.
