The Finance Associate performs budgeting, accounting, and spending activities for all Housing & Residence Life (HRL) student staff and leaders and the University Residence Government (URG) and National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH). Provide training to all students and staff that purchase with state funds. They will also reconcile and post all student housing deposits.
Responsibilities and Duties
Provide oversight of Resident Aassistant (RA) programming funding process to include: review and approve expense requests, prepare petty cash vouchers, create and maintain database of funding usage, audit receipts, submit funds replenishment requests. follow up with student receipt concerns, bill student accounts if needed, work closely with Auxiliary Services Business Office (ASBO) and Working Fund, and purchase programming items via online orders.
Serve as reviewer for the deposit process, so student account postings can be reconciled prior to deposit being entered into system. Enter student housing deposit revenue into the Deposit Management System (DMS). Provide oversight for URG/NRHH funds. Create and maintain fiscal year spreadsheets detailing expenses and revenue, purchase programming items, and train RA staff and professional staff on RA funding process. Ensuring emphasis on adhering to TU and state guidelines. Order and monitor use of meal tickets for departmental events.
General office back up whenever needed for answering phones, assist students/parents with questions regarding housing contract process, contract renewal process, on-line room sign up process, options for residence living, policies, room assignments, room damage bills and fees from housing on student accounts. Serve on departmental committees, workgroups, or special projects as assigned. Represent the department/division on University committees and projects as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Three years accounting clerical experience
- General knowledge of accounting standards
Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.
Salary and Benefits $37,418 annually and full University benefits that include annual leave, up to 14 holidays, personal and sick days; excellent health, life, and retirement plans; and tuition remission.
