The ILR Administrative Applications team is responsible for development, implementation, and management of technology solutions related to extension registration, marketing, accounting, resident faculty administration and reporting, student services, event management, and grant-funded projects, much of which is built on the Salesforce platform.
The Applications team is looking for a team player:
- Our Salesforce Developer will be working under general supervision of the Director of Administrative Applications, and collaborating with staff and faculty across the school,
- This candidate will use intermediate to expert knowledge of the Salesforce platform and its capabilities to design, develop, test, and maintain complex programmatic (coded) and declarative solutions for process automation, data management, reporting and data visualization, user experience improvements, and security.
- You will take the leading role in programmatic (coded) development.
- They will be adept at producing results using the Apex programming language, Lightning Components, Visualforce, Lightning Flow, and other Salesforce-specific technologies.
- In addition to application development, you will also develop integrations and carry out database management and migration projects related to Salesforce.
- As the Salesforce Developer you will draw on experiences as a professional developer to engage with team members and stakeholders at all levels to develop, implement, and support complex, mission-critical projects and assist in making strategic technical decisions aimed at increasing productivity and ROI and providing enhanced service for the School.
- This candidate will regularly work with moderate to highly complex production administrative systems including financial, registration, marketing, admissions, faculty management, student services, and the Dean's Office.
If this sounds like you, GREAT! Here is the minimum qualifications needed for this role:
- Bachelor's Degree with an emphasis on information technology or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum of 3 years proven professional experience developing Salesforce applications with Apex, Lightning Components, Visualforce, and Lightning Flow.
- Professional experience as a Salesforce administrator, performing day-to-day administration and support and declarative development with custom objects, layouts, pages, formulas, validation rules, and other aspects of Salesforce business automation.
- Thorough understanding of Salesforce development best practices, security, and lifecycle.
- Understanding of concepts of database organization and experience in managing relational databases and writing SQL or Salesforce SOQL queries in a professional environment.
- Knowledge of web service integration using REST and JSON.
- Familiarity with building custom Salesforce community sites.
- Proven track record of communicating clearly to customers and peers at all levels of technical understanding in a positive, customer-service-oriented manner.
- Possess the ability to exercise good judgment and logic to work independently to anticipate and solve problems that may be urgent, sensitive or confidential in nature
- Strong interest in learning and growing on the Salesforce development platform.
In addition, you will be a top candidate with our preferred qualifications:
- Experience in Information Technology in a higher-education environment
- Salesforce Administration certification
- Salesforce Developer certification
- Experience using VSCode and Salesforce DX as a development environment.
- At least 40 completed Salesforce Trailhead badges related to administration and development
- Experience with Salesforce Lightning Web Component (LWC) development
- Proficient with one or more other interpretive programming languages (Java, C#, VB, etc.)
- Proficient with one or more scripting languages such as Javascript or Python
- Advanced understanding of Excel as a data manipulation and analysis tool
- Experience distilling user requirements/stories into technical requirements
- Experience creating user documentation
This is a full-time, fixed term appointment of one year, non-academic staff, benefits eligible opportunity located on the Ithaca campus. Remote work possible within the USA - location may be flexible depending on the state of residence.
