Job DescriptionAssociate Director for Housing Operations, Residential Life
Reporting directly to the Director of Housing Operations, the Associate Director for Housing Operations oversees serves as a leader for Boston College's housing program. The Associate Director is an essential part of the department leadership team and serves as a project manager for large scale functions, including move-in, move-out, hall access, housing transition periods, and departmental assessment.
Primary Areas of Responsibility
The Associate Director directly supervises the occupancy and assignments, summer housing and transitions, and technology units within the Office of Residential Life. In this capacity, the Associate Director provides guidance and leadership for these units and assists with meeting their operational goals and requirements.
The Associate Director serves as a manager for large scale projects within Residential Life. The Associate Director manages the move-in process for approximately 2,300 first-year students and 5,200 returning students over a three-day period. The Associate Director coordinates the move-out process for all students, including approximately 2,000 graduating seniors. The Associate Director serves on project teams and committees for various institution-wide projects that impact the residence halls, including the campus security and access project, the Division of Student Affairs assessment committee, and Student Affairs and Facilities project team. The Associate Director serves as chair of the Residential Life Assessment committee, which both coordinates major assessment projects for the department and consults with internal stakeholders on program level assessment.
Through the supervision of four direct reports including the Assistant Director of Occupancy and Assignments, Assistant Director of Transitional Housing and Business Operations, Systems Administrator, and Social Media, Web, and Access Specialist, the Associate Director strives to create a safe and welcoming environment for 7,600 undergraduate students by ensuring the effective operation of 32 residence halls.
As a member of the Residential Life leadership team, the Associate Director collaborates around the execution of major processes, participates in goal setting for the department, manages performance, and provides feedback and coaching to members of the department. In collaboration with the Associate Director of Selection, Development, and Formation and the Director of Housing Operations, the Associate Director will strategize around staff training and development for the Housing Operations team, as well as around cross-training for the Residential Education staff.
Full-Time Equivalent Hiring Range: $72,600 to $90,750; salary commensurate with relevant experience.
Requirements- A Master's degree in Higher Education, Student Personnel, Counseling, or related field is required.
- 3-5 years of experience in housing operations that includes project management and supervision responsibilities is required.
- 7-10 years of professional higher education or related experience is preferred.
- Prior residence hall experience at the graduate or professional level is preferred.

- Demonstrated understanding of student development theory.

- Experience working with technology systems is preferred. Experience with CCure or StarRez is preferred.
- Experience managing large or complicated budgets is preferred.
