Reporting to the Assistant Provost for Student Success, the Senior Honors & Academic Scholars Advisor, leads University initiatives related to academic advising for students in the honors program as well as other high achieving students seeking additional rigor and challenge in the undergraduate program. The Senior Honors & Academic Scholars Advisor serves as a primary advisor working in conjunction with honors program faculty and others to maximize student opportunities and reach degree goals. It is the responsibility of the Senior Advisor to develop collaborative relationships with faculty, academic and student support staff, Academic Deans, the Registrar's Office and the Divisions of Enrollment Management, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and Student Life. As a member of the Center for Student Academic Success staff, the Senior Advisor works on a variety of student success and retention initiatives to support University goals.
Essential Functions / Characteristics
Serve as a primary contact to support the needs of students, including academic and personal support as well as referrals to campus resources.
Build relationships with academic departments to create pathways and opportunities for high achieving students.
Assist students in the development of an educational plan, including clarifying educational goals, and choosing programs of study.
Develop supportive and personal relationships with students while continuing to encourage their personal and academic development.
Serve as a mentor to students and coach them in exploring internship, career and graduate school opportunities.
Educate students about course planning and registration processes, make referrals to various campus resources, and serve are the primary contact within CSAS for this populations of students.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge about the University's programs and requirements by consulting with Academic Deans and faculty regarding course and degree requirements.
Work with departments to promote research and experiential learning opportunities on campus.
Collaborate with the fellowships coordinator and the Research Office to develop and promote academic opportunities.
Work closely with the Graduate Program Directors and others to support undergraduates interested in graduate degrees at RWU and elsewhere.
Develop events to promote sense of belonging and relationship building among students.
Create workshops and communicate regularly with students regarding what is available to them.
Work collaboratively with the Assistant Provost and Institutional Research to gather, analyze, and interpret data as it relates to this population of students.
Work independently to resolve any issues that occur.
Complete the University's matriculation processes, including withdrawals and reinstatements as well as Academic Petitions.
Serve as a member of the student success team, providing front-line services to students.
Participate in CSAS outreach efforts.
Serve on University committees as directed by the Assistant Provost.
Represent the Office and University at enrollment and other events.

Master's degree in a field related to academic advising.
Three to five years of higher education experience with direct responsibility in student academic advising.
Comprehensive knowledge and experience in student development theory, application of academic advising models, and associated resources.
Demonstrated ability with technology, including Microsoft Office applications, student management systems, and ability to learn platforms specific to the University.
Experience working with diverse student populations and commitment to Diversity, Equity & Inclusion initiatives.
Successful record of working in a fast paced, student focused, team-based work environment.
Comfortable handling sensitive, complex, and time critical information.
Comfortable presenting to a variety of audiences.
Represent the institution at recruitment and student events.
Able to work independently, prioritize work, and meet goals in a timely manner
Master's degree in higher education administration, college student personnel, or education.
Three to five years of higher education experience with direct responsibility working with honor student programs/students.
Experience working with the Ellucian system Colleague, the Tutor/Advisor Trac system, and the Sakai learning management system.
Knowledge and experience with a broad range of major and minor undergraduate and graduate curricula.
