Overview of Position
We are seeking an Associate Dean of Student Affairs who will serve as a member of the leadership team who will work across the Division and the College with a focus on improving the student experience and increasing student success and engagement. The Associate Dean will provide leadership and administrative oversight for the Assistant Dean of Student Engagement (Athletics and the Office of Student Engagement) and the Office of Accessibility Services. The Associate Dean is also responsible for the development and administration of diversity, equity, inclusivity services and programs for students at PCCC and communication to students regarding all matters related to graduation. Serve as primary liaison to students on issues related to diversity, equity, and inclusivity.
This is a full-time, administrative position.
Examples of Duties
- Assist the Associate VP/Dean of Student Affairs to foster principles that encourage integrity, student wellbeing, diversity and inclusiveness while promoting an environment of excellence and success
- Supervise the Assistant Dean for Student Engagement, Student Affairs Specialists and Director of Accessibility Services
- Ensure that the College understands, evaluates and responds to student access needs and resource demands, patterns of student access request/usage and concerns about access, and compliance with the policies and procedures related to academic accommodations and services
- Collaborate with the Office of Student Engagement and the Center for Teaching and Learning to develop robust student programming emphasizing cultural awareness, social activities, and special programs celebrating diversity and promoting belonging broadly - inclusive of race, ethnicity, LGBTQA+, gender, ability, age, class, religious affiliation and culture
- Provide strategic leadership in shaping the goals and framework to advance PCCC's values of inclusion, diversity, belonging, equity and accessibility and create initiatives that advance those values for all members of out student community
- In collaboration with the Office of the President and the Registrar's office, serve as a member of the Graduation Committee and oversee all communication regarding Graduation
Qualifications
- Master's Degree required. PhD, PsyD, or EdD preferred
- Seven or more years' experience in Student Affairs administration or equivalent experiences in other appropriate student program administration required
- Demonstrated ability sound judgement; decision making skills
- Strong theoretical and philosophical foundation in student development and student support
- Strong understanding of contemporary diversity, equity and inclusion concepts and issues, especially as the apply to recruitment and retention, the educational impact of diversity and the policy and legal dynamics of inclusion and equity work required
- Demonstrated understanding of intercultural knowledge, historically underrepresented student populations and competence and commitment to issues of diversity and inclusion in higher education
- Knowledge of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 as amended, the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) and the ADA Amendments Act of 2008 (ADAAA) preferred
- Advanced interpersonal and intercultural communication skills
