Overview of Position

We are seeking an Assistant Dean for Student Engagement who will serve as a member of the Student Affairs' Leadership team and is responsible for the comprehensive oversight for the assigned functional areas: Athletics, Student Engagement, Leadership, and Community Service. The Assistant Dean for Student Engagement provide direct oversight to several programs, initiatives, and services provided by the Office of Student Engagement and Athletics. This position is also responsible for supervising staff and student employees, managing budgets, advising SGA and student groups, and coordinating and facilitating student leadership training.

This is a full-time, administrative position.

Examples of Duties

1. Ensure the overall development of each student as a person within the context of the individual and social responsibility with an emphasis on active engagement in co-curricular opportunities
2. Provide direction of the development of new programs, including contribution to the development or redesign of existing programs in student engagement and athletics; seeks grants to support programming
3. Promote diversity and the understanding and respect for all peoples and cultures
4. Build community and cultivate collaboration within the student engagement team and athletics through collegial leadership, vision, creativity, and dedication
5. Maintain high visibility and engagement with the student body and campus community at college events
6. Develop and implement innovative and proactive programs, services, and procedures particular to co-curricular engagement, health and wellness services programming, and campus safety that are responsive to the changing needs and requirements of the student population
7. Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

1. Master's degree Required
2. Five or more years' experience in student affairs administration or equivalent experiences in other appropriate student program administration or closely related fields, required
3. Knowledge of or experience in Student Conduct or Judicial Affairs, preferred
4. Strong organizational skills and ability to proficiently manage multiple projects
5. Demonstrated experience working both with independently and collaboratively
6. Excellent oral and written communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills
7. Demonstrated ability to foster positive and productive relationships with all campus constituencies, including institutional leaders, faculty staff, and students
8. Demonstrated cultural competence and proven ability to meet the needs of a diverse student population and to promote intercultural understanding
9. Demonstrated skills in financial and budget management, ability to interpret and prepare departmental budgets and other financial reports
