Position Summary:
Housed under Student Success Initiatives within the Division of Undergraduate Education, the International Peer Group Scholars Program (IPG) is a free, year-long (Fall, Winter, and Spring Quarters) peer mentoring program specifically designed for first-year international students. We provide and ensure Academic and Career Planning Support, Professional Guidance, Social Support and School-wide recognition.
Performs a limited range of counseling and advice to targeted students. Provides straightforward counseling and advice to commonly encountered situations independently but receives assistance for unusual situations. This position provides high quality programming and service to UCI's various student populations and will concentrate efforts and services on UCI's current and prospective international students, specifically overseeing and implementing all aspects of the International Peer Group (IPG) Scholars Program. Contributes to the overall design, planning, and implementation of all workshops and activities that are not only part of the IPG Scholars' Program but may additionally support the larger UCI international student community. Provide day-to-day logistical support for programming that includes the publicity of programs through website updates and social media, overseeing the full calendar of events, and preparing all materials and facility needs related to the program's activity.
Compensation Range:
Hourly Rate: $23.47 - $28.86

3-5 years experience working with student success programs, student leadership programs, and/or international student programs.
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Knowledge of the theories and practice of counseling, learning, human and career development.
Knowledge of personal growth and development areas, including critical thinking, effective communication, self-appraisal, self-esteem, clarification of values, appropriate career choices, and leadership.
Knowledge of the methodologies used to enhance student achievement.
Knowledge of trends and issues facing low-income and first-generation college, underrepresented, disadvantaged, physically challenged, and under prepared students in higher education.
Working knowledge of international students and issues that affect their persistence and graduation.
Knowledge and experience in analyzing problems and identifying solutions for problem-solving; skills and experience in developing and administering programs.
Familiarity with research methodologies and research designs.
Working knowledge of appropriate methods for collecting, analyzing, and evaluating data.
Knowledge of University, college, and major requirements, policies and procedures, including policies on handling student records and confidential documents.
Knowledge of federal, state, and local requirements to provide for access, health, confidentiality, and safety; legal and ethical issues governing the delivery of counseling services.
Ability to work as a member of the team. Ability to maintain high-quality work while meeting time-sensitive deadlines Ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion in handling sensitive issues or concerns.
Ability to create and maintain Excel spreadsheets, including those used to analyze evaluation data.
Skill in analyzing information, problems, situations, practices and procedures to determine appropriate action.
Experience developing collegial relationships with faculty, campus colleagues, and community partners.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, or their equivalent. Working knowledge of Wordpress website development software and Adobe suite software.
Special Conditions Required:
Additional evening and weekend working hours may be necessary for support of department goals, objectives, and program activities.
