The College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) is looking for an engaged and enthusiastic, and resourceful individual to provide high-level support to the Office of Inclusion and Academic Excellence (OIAE) CVM Enrichment, Leadership, and Success Programs related course. OIAE is responsible for CVM's Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Accessibility and Well-being Initiatives for all College stakeholders.
What you will do:
As the CVM Assistant Director Academic Excellence, you will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to further Enrichment, success, and leadership programs missions, which include, but are not limited to:
Lead the application, admissions, and orientation process for the Enrichment Programs:
Serve as the initial point of contact and answer inquiries about the programs.
Review and pre-screen applications for completeness and qualifications for consideration by the relevant committee.
Plan and manage new student orientation via Zoom and on campus.
Along with faculty, work with students to develop a curriculum plan designed to meet their needs. Monitor progress, provide resources and alert the Assistant Dean of issues or concerns.
Advocate student issues or concerns with the appropriate faculty or staff member, refer students to College, Graduate School, or University resources as appropriate, and advise students and faculty regarding Graduate School policy and program requirements.
Develop materials and market the program to potential students (including professionals, pre-vets).
Facilitate the application process (including checking applications for completeness, coordination of review of applications, and requests for fellowship support); enter admission/rejection outcomes in CollegeNET, and send decision letters to students.
Develop and Manage CVM Enrichment, Leadership, and Success Programs:
Gather data to measure the success of the program, identify areas for improvement and make adjustments as needed. Utilize data to assess target markets and develop marketing strategies and materials to market programs.
Develop and document Dean's Leaders program policies and procedures and ensure compliance with internal and external funding agencies (i.e. NIH, NSF, HHMI) NYSED, and Cornell.
Participate in and make recommendations for short-and long-term strategic planning.
Work with faculty to create new program offerings and the sequence of offerings and schedule accordingly.
Provide administrative assistance to the program. Schedule labs, and courses, update course catalog, upload course materials to Canvas, maintain student records, schedule Media Room and provide IT training, update the website, and ensure distribution of scholarships via bursar process.
Work with Faculty, CVM, and University-wide offices to develop, coordinate and administer programs.
Develop innovative and collaborative programming and resources networks for the CVM community.
Provide support for CVM Enrichment, Leadership, and Success Programs:
Develop and coordinate OIAE Courses and Canvas sites.
Assist in the development and administration of program Evaluations and provide administrative assistance as needed to course leaders with tasks such as coordinating meetings, uploading course materials to Canvas, and identifying and scheduling rooms for courses.
Provide students services including advising current students on matters related to their graduate studies, reviewing Student Annual Progress Reports via Dynamic Forms online system, providing information to prospective students; reviewing and processing Ph.D. applications, which includes maintaining CollegeNET, the web-based application system, and advising faculty regarding
Scheduling events calendar and coordinating summer program.
Work with CVM offices and University offices, preparing program timeline and calendar, handling admissions process, working with the Assistant Dean to match trainees with mentors, maintaining and updating the website.
Develop and Lead programs and initiatives for Faculty involvement in the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Accessibility and Well-being Initiatives by the Office of Inclusion and Academic Excellence (OIAE).
Required Qualification:
Bachelor's degree with two to four years of progressive administrative, coordination, management, and leadership experience or equivalent combination.

High level of motivation, initiative, and aptitude to innovate, especially when driven by data and defined needs.
Experience in successfully mentoring or teaching others (peers, community members, students, etc.)
Possess strong troubleshooting and organizational skills and attention to detail
Excellent relationship-building, outreach, networking, and communication skills (both oral and written).
Professionalism, tact, excellent judgment, flexibility, and a demonstrated commitment to contribute to a team-oriented work environment and work and think independently.
Show initiative and demonstrate a creative and innovative approach to new projects and finding solutions with a strong ability to think critically.
Handle delicate and confidential information with discretion
Be proactive and adapt to changing priorities, handle new tasks with little explanation, and effectively manage competing timelines, assignments, and projects.
Be able to push, pull, lift or carry 20 -40 lbs.

Experience managing faculty communication and developing programming for them.
Experience interacting with Cornell's Graduate School, Bursar's office, and graduate students.
Familiarity with university policies and procedures and Cornell systems, i.e., OBIEE, Workday, PeopleSoft (courses, classes, grades, and student advisor), CCI (course update system), ADMIT (online application system,) ACALOG (online courses of study,) OLGAA (Online Grade Adjustment Application), Qualtrics, ZOOM, and Drupal.
