About the Position: The Center for Internships and Community Engagement (CICE) creates cooperative linkages between higher education, community organizations and professional offices and strives to create high quality, community-based experiences that benefit students, partner sites, and communities. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as the Campus Engagement and Partnerships Coordinator (Student Services Professional III-Range A). The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.
Under general direction, the Community Engagement and Partnerships Coordinator will be responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operations of the Center by providing support to students, faculty, and community partners to create high quality and academically relevant internships for respective campus departments. In this capacity, the Coordinator will plan, develop and implement programs, services and support systems to address the multifaceted concerns of faculty and partner organizations. Collaborates with and solicits feedback from faculty and university administrators. Using advanced professional judgement and information analysis, the coordinator will review any propose academic internship opportunities submitted to the campus' prevailing CSM portal and independently determine the best approaches for approving student opportunities in compliance with campus and federal labor policies, as well as risk management protocol. The Coordinator will analyze and interpret guidelines and establish precedents to determine solutions to problems that may arise for both students and sites throughout the academic internship experience. Develops and implements relevant training involving considerable planning and coordination with campus and community partners. In consultation with the Assistant Director, interfaces with internship site supervisors and resolves concerns initiated by students, faculty, and site personnel. Uses a variety of counseling techniques to advise relevant stakeholders on matters of compliance and established processes. Implements campus risk management policies and procedures in relation to academic internships in collaboration with Center staff and the campus Office for Risk Management. Contributes to the management and execution of projects and events as required. Other duties as assigned.
Essential Qualifications:Bachelors degree or the equivalent from an accredited four-year college or university in a related field including or supplemented by upper division or graduate course work in counseling techniques, interviewing, and conflict resolution plus three years of professional student services work in the field. A masters degree from an accredited college or university in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work or a job-related field may be substituted for one year of professional experience. A doctoral degree from an accredited college or university and the appropriate internship or clinical training in a relevant field may be substituted for three years of the required professional experience.
Ability to plan, develop, coordinate, supervise, and organize programs and activities. Ability to interact with a diverse student population, faculty, staff, and the public. Ability to analyze complex situations accurately and adopt effective courses of action. Ability to advise students individually and in groups on complex student-related matters. Ability to complete assignments without detailed instructions. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with a variety of individuals. Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to acquire knowledge of campus procedures, activities, and the overall organization.
A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience working successfully with, developing, and managing community partnerships. Ability to research policy and make decisions accordingly. Experience working on team-based projects and giving presentations in a virtual and traditional environment. Proficiency with word processor and cloud-based technologies. Prior work in customer service or public relations roles. Strong verbal communication and writing skills and the ability to speak extemporaneously on relevant subject matters.
