Description

The School of Art at Carnegie Mellon University seeks an adjunct instructor to teach "Electronic Media Studio: Introduction to Interactivity", a practical introduction to computation and interactivity within the context of the arts. In this course students develop the skills and confidence to produce interactive experiences, discuss their work in relation to current practices of digital art, and engage new technologies critically. Educators for this course will be expected to provide instruction in the p5.js arts programming toolkit for generative art, and the Unity3D toolkit for the development of immersive environments.

This course is scheduled to meet on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, 8am-10:50am

An adjunct instructor is responsible for the creation and delivery of material for foundation or advanced undergraduate courses the content of which much be approved in accordance with University and department policies and procedures. An adjunct instructor is responsible for delivering course content, instructing students, supervising teaching assistants, evaluating student work and entering grades into online systems, and performing related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

A Master of Fine Arts or equivalent and experience in the field is preferred. The instructor must have experience critiquing work across various modes of creative practice, as well as strong organizational skills, knowledge of critical theory, and an active studio practice.
