Job Description:
The TREC Coordinator will assist in the coordination of the Transformation and Reentry through Education and Community (TREC) program efforts for Minneapolis College. This position will collaborate with faculty coordinators to enroll TREC participants, work with prospective participants and collaborate with Department of Corrections staff for early-release participants.
Assist faculty coordinator in providing new student orientation onsite at correctional facilities and serve as the primary contact related to TREC admissions from internal and external constituents. Manage the enrollment process for TREC participants which includes application, course placement and registration.
Travel to correctional facilities in Stillwater and Lino Lakes at various times of the academic/calendar year will be required of the TREC Coordinator.
Required Qualifications:
- Associate degree and one year of professional experience OR equivalent years of experience in customer service or advising students across related functions related to Admissions, Advising, Financial Aid, or Records/Registration
- Ability to use Microsoft applications to create and or prepare a variety of documents including memos, reports, presentations, graphs
- Experience with diverse and underrepresented student populations
- Demonstrates intercultural competency by recognizing the value of individual and cultural difference
- Must have strong written and verbal communication and written skills
- Proficiency with FAFSA processing and financial aid awarding
- Demonstrates an effort to improve cultural competence and actively takes steps to include diversity training in professional development
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency in database functions
- Experience delivering presentations
- Knowledge of Minneapolis College policy, procedures, programs, curriculum, services and resources
- 3+ years of experience in customer service or advising serving students across the functions of Admissions, Advising, Financial Aid, or Records/Registration
