Job Description: Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides guidance, academic advisement, and mentorship for first-generation, low-income participants by:
- Conducting workshops, weekly meetings, and one-on-one sessions in: secondary and post-secondary course selection, goal setting, ACT/SAT test application and preparation, college selection, financial aid applications, college admissions applications, scholarship applications, career planning, and all other postsecondary enrollment processes.
- Working closely with guidance counselors, teachers, and key school staff to support participants.
- Collaborating with parents on student progress.
- Coordinates the Upward Bound tutoring program by:
- Hiring, training, and supervising all part-time and student tutoring staff
- Working with Upward Bound counseling staff to ensure advisees tutoring needs are met.
- Providing tutoring to students in areas of academic competency and connecting students to other available resources.
- Collaborates with director to develop and implement program curriculum for 24 school visits, ten Saturday Sessions, and the six-week pre-college summer program.
- Designs and teaches the senior project and senior seminar courses.
- Tracks and maintains records of student progress by:
- Working with school counselors to collect grades, test scores, transcripts, and other relevant academic data.
- Maintaining a record of all student contacts and services provided.
- Assisting director in annual performance report (APR).
- Ability to work occasional evenings and Saturdays.
Job Requirements:

- Master's degree in counseling, education, student affairs, human services, core academic subject, or a related area.
- Experience working with disadvantaged (low-income, first-generation) students.
- Experience in an educational or agency setting and ability to develop academic resources and curriculum.
- Strong desire to promote educational achievement and opportunity. organizational, communication, and public relations skills
- Valid driver's license with good driving record
Additional Information:Salary: $41,500
