Job Description: Wittenberg is seeking a Student Success Coach. As part of the COMPASS: Sweet Success Center team, this individual will provide proactive, holistic support (e.g., psycho-social, academic, life-skills, and professional) to primarily first-year Wittenberg students to enhance the student experience with a specific focus on their support, retention and persistence. In particular, the Student Success Coach focuses on college transition, academic skill development, supplemental advising, and major and career exploration for students. This role collaborates not only with COMPASS staff, but Career Development, Student Development, faculty, and staff across the institution. This is a full-time, exempt-level position reporting to the Sr. Director Academic Services and Student Success.
Essential functions include, but are not limited to:
- Provide psychosocial, academic, career/major exploration, student success and life skills advising to first-year students identified through several referral and intervention processes. Coaching areas to include time management, goal setting, course registration, major exploration, academic skill development, and career exploration.
- With COMPASS staff, aid in the intervention of critical University processes including: mid-term grade reports, early alerts, registration, account holds, part-time status, athletic eligibility, and undeclared majors.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to implement and maintain support program for academically at-risk students on academic probation or who are conditionally admitted.
- Encourage student participation in the life of campus and with services and support through marketing and direct outreach to students, faculty, and staff.
- Consistently monitor and document data on student progress of all students on case load. Manage Early Alerts in a timely and intentional manner within case management systems.
- Serve as a knowledgeable resource maintaining up-to-date understanding of academic and institutional resources, as well as external resources to support students.
- Coordinate referrals with COMPASS, the Provost's Office, the Dean's Office, and other University resources.
- Set data metrics, evaluate program, and assess outcomes for student populations to develop goals and inform the College on outcomes.
- Assist with retention efforts of students in conjunction with COMPASS.
- Maintain student data and records in a manner that ensures confidentiality and aides in the assessment of retention programs and strategies.
- Perform other relevant duties as assigned such as special projects, programs, and developmental activities.
Job Requirements:
- A bachelor's degree is required.
- 1 - 3 years experience with academic or personal development coaching. Experience with college student populations or college advising is preferred.
- Case management or proven data collection experiences.
- Experience with development support programs preferred.
- Demonstration of strong writing and reporting skills, time management presentation skills, and strong verbal communication required.
- Working knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams and PowerPoint).
- Ability to remain stationary for 50% of the work day.
- Ability to work nights and weekends as needed to support student events and services required.
