POSITION DETAILS
Under the general direction of the Associate Dean for Student Development in the Division of Student Success at Bronx Community College, the Director of CARES (Counseling and Resources for Emergency Support) provides administrative oversight, visionary leadership and broad direction for all aspects of Student (Personal/Mental Health) Counseling and the Single Stop unit (especially regarding delivery of services). Ensure that CARES department has a positive impact on the mental health and well-being of our students by providing an array of high-quality service.
Also, in addition to the CUNY Title Overview, responsibilities include but are not limited to:
-Overall direction and supervision of CARES including development, training and evaluation of CARES staff, interns, doctoral fellows, programming and protocols.
-Administrative oversight for intake assessments, personal counseling, crisis intervention, group workshops and campus outreach programming for the entire CARES area. This include services regarding food insecurity, housing insecurity, emergency financial assistance, clothing drives and a food pantry.
-On-going development and implementation of CARES policies, procedures and program assessment.
- Preparation, management and reconciliation of area budget.
- Membership on campus Behavioral Intervention Team and coordination of crisis intervention and response protocol for CARES.
-Work with area hospitals, mental health and social support agencies and other community-based organizations/providers in an effort to improve resources and services to students.
-Service as liaison to CUNY Director of Counseling meetings.
- Participates in inter-divisional programs to increase student success and retention
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience required.
Additional Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in appropriate discipline for personal or psychological counseling (e.g., Mental Health Counseling, Social Work, Psychology)
• NYS license as a Mental Health Practitioner
• At least six years of documented progressive clinical and managerial experience in counseling center administration with supervision in a mental health setting.
Preferred qualifications
• Doctoral degree in psychology (Ph.D. or Psy.D) or appropriate discipline
• Knowledge and experience to work with students from diverse backgrounds
• Experience in a College/University setting

- Manages a counseling center providing a variety of services such as individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, workshops, classroom instruction, and academic intervention

- Directs planning, evaluation, assessment and marketing of counseling services
- Interfaces with academic departments, other College offices, and student groups to assess program needs and develop appropriate responses

2% increase will take place November 1st 2022 increasing salary range.
Salary commensurate with education and experience.
