Position Summary
The Academic Systems and Data team is integral to the Office of the University Registrar (OUR) and supports the mission of the office to create, maintain, and protect the academic records of current and former students. The team provides information support, data analysis, and reporting for OUR, offices across campus, and external organizations. Led by the Associate University Registrar, Academic Systems/Technology, the Academic Systems and Data team supports PeopleSoft Student Records and Academic Advising configuration and provides problem and issue resolution for a variety of systems and data marts. The team participates in systems projects by providing business-specific knowledge and requirements, investigating technology solutions, end-to-end testing, and leading and participating in implementations. The team frequently collaborates with staff in college registrar offices, Bursar, Financial Aid, Admissions, Graduate School, Enrollment Compliance, Continuing Education and Summer Sessions, and Cornell Information Technology.
The person in this role must have an understanding of PeopleSoft Student Records and how the application supports a student's academic record. They must also understand the dependencies between Student Records and other modules within PeopleSoft, such as Student Financials, Financial Aid, and Admissions. In addition, an understanding of the relationship between PeopleSoft and other systems is critical.
Participate in the implementation of new information systems that support academic records
Participate in troubleshooting of business process analysis, re-design, and implementation
Identify and recommend business process changes to support current business needs
Support existing information systems and applications
Analyze data and prepare reports and files using various academic systems
Support operations of the Office of the University Registrar
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and 2-4 years relevant experience or equivalent combination.
Experience in use of student information systems such as PeopleSoft Student Records, Degree Audit or Curriculum Lifecycle Management solutions.
Experience in gathering, analyzing, documenting, and modifying business requirements.
Ability to provide guidance, communicate requirements, problems, and issues to technical and non-technical users.
Experience in use of imaging systems such as Perceptive Content.
Experience in reporting and data analysis and use of reporting tools such as OAS, PeopleSoft Query.
Provide support and guidance for users of student information systems to resolve moderate to complex issues or identify performance concerns. Users include staff in OUR and student service offices across campus (such as College Registrar Offices), Bursar, Financial Aid, Admissions, Graduate School, and Continuing Education and Summer Sessions, Enrollment Compliance, and Cornell University Information Technology. Provide problem and issue resolution for PeopleSoft Student Records and Academic Advising, and systems such as ImageNow and ID Card integration, and workflow-based forms.
Willingness and ability to learn and quickly adapt to new technologies, business processes, and procedures.
Strong reasoning, analytical and communication skills are essential.
Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
Strong leadership skills and ability to establish effective and productive working-relationships.
Understanding of FERPA and other policies related to confidentiality and ability to interpret and apply policy to daily work.
Preferred Qualifications
Two to four years of experience in a student services office in higher education (e.g. Bursar, Financial Aid, Grad School, college office, etc.) with an in-depth understanding of the systems that support student records administration and academic classroom scheduling strongly preferred.
Experience with data structures and ability to produce ad-hoc reports and data sets to support the office, college and university needs.
Experience with webservices are preferred.
Experience with how to videos, documentation, electronic forms, degree audit or curriculum lifecycle management tools are preferred.
