The Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) provides nutrition education and Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) for the University community, including students, faculty, and staff. The main focus of this position is to provide clinically appropriate nutrition education and MNT toward the collaborative management of eating disorders and MNT for medical disorders including diabetes, hypertension, lipid disorders, and other medical nutrition disorders, as well as weight management counseling that utilizes a non-diet approach and health-at-every-size model. The RD/RDN will participate in weekly eating disorder consultation team activities and serve on collaborative teams within Student Health Services (SHS) to provide effective nutrition services within our Patient-Centered Medical Home. This position works collaboratively within the Healthy Campus Initiatives of Student Health Services and with campus and community partners toward strategic campus goals for healthy eating. Duties may include but are not limited to one on one MNT, group nutrition appointments, mindful eating education, and outreach opportunities across campus. This employee will research and provide educational/prevention nutrition information for SHS providers and health educators and serve as a resource for student interviews if time permits. Will participate in Quality Improvement and Peer Review and will support the unique nutritional needs of all races, ethnicities, and gender presentations during each session.
This RD/RDN will serve as a preceptor for up to 2-4 dietetic interns per academic year. The RD/RDN reports directly to the Associate Director – Wellness Coaching and Prevention Interventions and will give and receive feedback about cases, department productivity, and performance. The work schedule may include evening or weekend hours depending on activities planned, or trauma response needed for the initiative. Maintains credentialing and privileges as outlined by SHS by-laws.

Master's degree in nutrition, dietetics, nutrition education, or other related area and 1-year experience in clinical, public health, or institutional setting; or a bachelor's degree in nutrition, dietetics, community nutrition, and 3 years experience. Registered Dietitian
and Licensed Dietitian in South Carolina or eligible to become registered and licensed. CPR/BLS certified or ability to obtain.
