Department Summary
UNT competes as a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and Conference USA. North Texas’ athletic programs are classified as NCAA Division I, the largest and highest division among all colleges and universities. The 46,000 square-foot Athletic Center located off South Bonnie Brae Street is the centerpiece of North Texas athletics. Athletics strives to conduct a competitive athletics program that promotes faculty, staff, student and community affiliation and participation with the North Texas Athletics. Provide facilities which attract the highest level of talent and allow student-athletes to perform at the highest level in practice and during competition.
Position Overview
Assists in providing leadership and direction for an assigned area within the athletic department. Responsible for the development, coordination, and administration of the department. Responsible for employees in the assigned area.
Job Duties
- Provide direct oversight to football athletics academic advising staff; manage an effective process of monitoring student-athlete academic progress, incorporating current best practices in the profession
- Serve as an academic services liaison to staff and faculty; work in collaboration with UNT athletic compliance and athletic certification to ensure proper procedures and process
- Serve as the advisor up to two Olympic sports and a designated group of football student-athletes; monitor their academic progress, provide course advisement, career and personal guidance and educate student-athletes on rules of eligibility, academic policies and campus
- Provide leadership for growth and direction of the Athletic Academic Advisors group, including supervision of the Athletic Academic Advising group
- Provide consistent and frequent communication with the Sr. Associate Athletic Director for Academics and with coaches about the progress of assigned student-athletes; make recommendations concerning improvement of programs and services
- Additional administrative duties include but are not limited to: Bookstore Coordinator, Senior Counselor Committee Liaison, Navigate Contact, Progress Report Oversight; International Evaluator
- Monitor and evaluate student-athletes’ progress towards degree and eligibility requirements; maintain records in compliance with University of North Texas, Conference USA and NCAA standards
- Assist with the recruiting activities as needed; meet with and guide prospective student-athletes through pre-admission process; evaluate prospective student-athletes’ academic information
- Comply with all NCAA, Conference USA, University of North Texas, federal and state procedures, rules, regulations and policies
- Coordinate faculty/staff guest coaching activities for your assigned sports as needed
- Other duties as assigned by Supervisor, Athletic Director and/or members of the Executive Team.

Bachelor’s Degree in in related field and three years of related experience; or any
