PURPOSE:Under the general supervision of the Care Manager, and the day-to-day oversight of the Basic Needs Case Manager, the Basic Needs Program Coordinator supports the development and implementation of CSUMB's student basic needs programming aimed at addressing student food, housing, and overall wellness insecurity. The program coordinator is responsible for the planning, coordination, daily operations, and evaluation of the diverse student programs that fall under the Basic Needs operations. The position works collaboratively to further develop sustainable student programs that promotes dignity, minimizes marginalization, and focuses on closing the educational equity gap for an ethnically and culturally diverse student population. This position is also responsible for coordinating the marketing and outreach to increase visibility of basic needs programs and resources and to create a welcoming, inclusive environment for all students.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following: - Lead the coordination and daily implementation of the Basic Needs Hub food pantry via staffing, scheduling, inventory and stocking and support all students who utilize this resource by providing them with information and connection to all Basic Needs resources.
- Recruit, train, supervise, and coordinate team of student assistants in support of program implementation, inclusive of providing leadership and direction to student team members responsible for marketing, outreach and social media posts and CalFresh applications. Advises and supports up to ten service learners in completion of their academic requirements.
- Advise students individually regarding Basic Needs resources and programs related to concerns for housing, food, child care, mental health, financial resources and financial literacy. Advises and assist students in completion of the requirements for the CalFresh applications for the state program. Save abreast of current resources and options available to students in support of their basic needs.
- Coordinate and develop a variety of tabling and outreach opportunities to students at large-scale events, activities, and campaigns including but not limited to nationally recognized awareness days, such as CalFresh Outreach Week and Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, with the goal of increasing student awareness by direct student connection and outreach.
- Lead oral presentations to student organizations, classes, and departments to inform them of available resources and provide training to student assistants and service learners on areas relevant to the mission of Basic Needs, including program implementation and details and CalFresh application assistance.
- Oversee student outreach, and social media efforts both directly and through leadership to student assistants to ensure students and the campus are informed about the resources available to them.
- Collect and report student participant engagement data to inform program improvements for the Basic Needs Office.
Other Functions:Serve on related campus committees in order to bring forward basic needs challenges as part of student's holistic health and success.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Working knowledge of the basic principles of individual and group behavior; research and observation techniques for the purpose of recording, classifying, and interpreting factual information; and the techniques and methods of interviewing.
Ability to gather and analyze data; reason logically, draw valid conclusions and make appropriate recommendations; participate in and contribute to group meetings, conferences, and interviews; clearly express ideas and recommendations orally; write clear and concise reports and establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff and faculty.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Experience: None required. Education: Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration or a job-related field. Specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
SPECIALIZED SKILLS: Possess and maintain a valid license to drive in the State of California, pass the Defensive Training Class, and be insurable under the University's liability coverage.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: - Understanding of college student identity development and basic needs services
- Familiarity and experience at using digital platforms such as MyRaft
- Ability to manage time effectively to accomplish tasks
- Technical fluency with Banner, Oracle/PeopleSoft, CSU Common Management System or equivalent student information system; Microsoft Office Professional Suite, and Google mail and calendaring programs.
- Possess and maintain a valid license to drive in the State of California, pass the Defensive Training Class, and be insurable under the University's liability coverage.

- This position is required to comply with confidentiality requirements outlined in the Department of Education's Family Educational Rights and Privacy and California's Educational Code Chapter 13 regarding sensitive student issues.
- This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) and will be required to participate in annual training and to immediately forward to the Clery Director all reports of crimes brought to their attention pursuant to the Clery Act and California State Education Code, Chapter 15.5, of the Donahue Higher Education Act, Section 67380.
- May require occasional evenings and/or weekend work.
PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT:Office environment with standard equipment and tasks. Position requires working at a computer and desk for extended periods of time. May require travel between campus offices and off-campus locations.
