This person will assist in the administration of intercollegiate athletics programs under the supervision of the Vice President, Student Development & Operations/Director of Athletics. Emphasis will be placed on assisting the athletic department with event management for home events and will require some travel to away events. In addition, this person will assist coaching staffs in developing and implementing a comprehensive strength and conditioning program for each athletic team and assist in oversight of strength and conditioning sessions, injury prevention, scheduling of facilities, equipment inventory, and monitoring of student-athletes physical progress. This person is responsible for the operations of the college’s wellness facilities including the supervision of student employees and the enforcement of rules and regulations pertaining to student and community use.

Minimum Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred.
Positive and successful experience in administration of intercollegiate and/or high school athletics preferred.
Experience in managing intercollegiate and/or high school level athletic events preferred.
Current certification by the National Strength & Conditioning Association as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), or by the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (SCCC or Master SCC) or willingness and ability to obtain such certification.
Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certification or willingness and ability to obtain such certifications.
Must relate well with community college students and be capable of supervising college age students and enforcing college policies.
Strong verbal and written communications skills.
Management and organization skills are essential.
Ability to handle confidential matters with discretion and perform with a high level of professional integrity and ethics.
Ability to work independently.
Possess the ability to execute in a superior fashion with the criteria established under the category “work performed”.
Work Performed:
Assist Director of Athletics, Associate Director of Athletics, and additional athletic staff with management of home events on both the Centerville and Ottumwa campuses including but not limited to game day oversight, game day set up and tear down, crowd control, safety and security management, and any additional necessary functions that each specific sport needs to provide a positive experience for the student-athlete and fan.
Lead and motivate student-athletes to maximize their potential.
Ensure the physical, emotional, and social welfare of student-athletes while establishing a safe working environment.
Supervise the operation of the college wellness facilities including enforcing building use eligibility and all building policies.
Hire, train, maintain, supervise and when necessary terminate student and college employees who work in athletics facility management.
Enforce building use eligibility.
Open and close athletics facilities as needed.
Initiate maintenance or replacement requests for athletics facilities including recommendations for general facility improvements.
Be responsible for coordinating and maintaining event scheduling of athletic facilities.
Process, according to established college procedures, payroll paperwork for student employees.
Supervise, inventory, and maintain college weight and cardio facilities.
Recommend purchases regarding strength and conditioning equipment.
Design and implement strength and conditioning programs in conjunction with head coaches consistent with individual and team goals during preseason, regular season, and post season in accordance with Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) and
National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) rules and regulations
Maintain statistical data, records, and history for individual student-athletes and programs.
Instruct student-athletes in proper training techniques, speed development, plyometrics, and recovery methods.
Assist with enforcement and implementation of policies and procedures for college weight and cardio facilities.
Work in conjunction with sports medicine staff regarding injuries, rehabilitation, program modification for injured student-athletes, and nutrition.
Assist with daily cleaning, maintenance, and operation of wellness facilities and contact additional campus offices such as physical facilities, custodial, etc. for assistance when necessary.
Ensure that Indian Hills Community College athletics programs abide by all ICCAC and NJCAA rules and regulations.
Assist with fundraising efforts.
Establish and maintain positive relationships with community, local support groups, media and alumni.
Work with Director of Athletics to develop and work within annual budgets.
Accept and perform duties which may require work to be performed other than normal business hours.
Participate in the hiring committees for athletic department staff.
Promote high standards of ethics, sportsmanship, academic success, and personal conduct for coaches and student-athletes.
