Department PurposeStudent Housing and Dining Services (SHDS) is a self-supporting auxiliary that provides housing and dining services to approximately 15,000 undergraduate, graduate, and students with families who live in on-campus residential facilities (university owned/managed and Public-Private-Partnerships), as well as providing residential, retail and catering dining services for the campus community. Serve in primary role of coordinating and implementing assessment, data analysis, business practices, and customer service for program. Assist in hiring, training and supervision of student staff. Liaison with the SHDS Assessment & Research Coordinator and other campus assessment staff.

Job Summary Under the primary supervision of the Orientation Business Office Manager and general direction of New Student Academic Services (NSAS), the Business Analyst is responsible for the analytical, assessment, business needs of the UC Davis Orientation Program, including customer communications, website review/edits, new student group management and documentation of processes to streamline a coordinated, efficient, solidified customer service approach. Analyze, design and implement new administrative and business logistics to improve operations. Support admin assistant to recruit, hire, train, assess and supervise operations student staff (13). Serve as primary team member to develop & synthesize assessments, research materials for the unit, to help benchmark the program. Exercise appropriate political acumen to interact and communicate with constituencies at all levels including faculty, staff, parents and administrators.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS - Spending extended periods of time in front of a computer terminal and typing on keyboard and sitting in meetings.

- Work hours will vary with program needs. Must be able to work flexible hours during the Aggie Orientation program.
- Restricted vacation during summer and fall orientation (August -September).
- Work and travel in extreme temperatures during summer orientation.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSMinimum Education/Experience: - Project management skills & experience to identify, coordinate and prioritize diverse projects & duties effectively, with strong organizational skills to work under multiple deadlines, heavy meeting schedules, shifting priorities & uneven time constraints and maintain a high level of productivity and accuracy in a dynamic, fast-paced, high volume environment.
- Experience using analytical skills to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of data with attention to detail and accuracy in order to inform strategic decisions of the Orientation team.
- Experience producing online & print correspondence, publications, evaluations, letters of record, etc.
- Experience and skills to use software and manage various computer, web-based registration systems (i.e., Microsoft & Google platforms; Qualtrics, Box; registration and accounting databases).
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA) : - Communication skills that have demonstrated the ability to work collaboratively and clarify objectives and guidelines with supervisor and/or leadership.
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new processes, procedures, and systems.
- Skills to navigate a diverse and multicultural environment to create a positive working environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSPreferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA) : - Skills to perform duties with confidence, flexibility, initiative, professionalism and good judgment to navigate the political complexities of a large research university. Knowledge of general diversity, equity & inclusion concepts & practices, particularly related to college students.
- Knowledge of FERPA enforcement, state laws, university policies and other general laws applicable to student enrollment, privacy/confidentiality, and advising policies.
- Knowledge of University systems and structures, budgets and financial structures, protocols and computer systems (Banner, Decision Support, DaFIS, Kuali, etc.). Budgetary skills for monitoring/tracking payroll expenses and programming budgets.
