This recruitment will be filling two positions; one at the John H. Daniel Campus in Keysville, VA and one at the Christanna Campus in Alberta, VA.The Financial Aid Specialist provides clerical support of the financial aid office, provides personal support for students, and implements Financial Aid processes. The successful candidates must have the ability to educate the community, often in a public setting, about Financial Aid processes, from beginning to end. The Financial Aid Specialist assists students in completing FAFSA applications, runs queries in PeopleSoft (student registration software), and handles awarding and authorization of awards in accordance with existing federal and state regulations.Duties of the position include but are not limited to:Serve as a School Certifying Official for Veterans Affairs; Certify enrollment working with Veteran Affairs and Student Services as neededAssist students in completing initial and renewal applications for financial aid on both campuses and at off campus locations; serve as receptionist for financial aid office, answering questions and referring students to proper sources when necessary; conduct financial aid workshops and presentationsAward and authorize student award types; manually adjust awards after census; miscellaneous data entry; package student financial aid awards according to federal, state, and institutional guidelines; run queries for awardingProvide typing, copying, filing, shredding and other office services for the financial aid office; order supplies and maintain supplies of necessary financial aid formsAssist with college sponsored events/programs and serve on college committees
