Position summary: Provide therapeutic and developmental services to individuals and groups including brief counseling, crisis counseling and counseling services for students with acute psychological problems; coordinate and manage referrals to outside providers and community resources; provide outreach programs and consultation services and alcohol and other drug education. Â
Major role functions:
- Serve as a clinician and directly provides counseling services.

Position responsibilities:
- Provide undergraduate and graduate students with short-term counseling and crisis intervention services.Â
- Maintain, and monitor a referrals system to provide continuity of care and follow-up for clients
- Assist students with referrals to mental health practitioners in the private practice community facilitating access to higher levels of care.Â
- Follow up to ensure that clients are appropriately assessed and successfully referred.
- Provide mental health consultation and crisis consultation to wellness center, residence life, and other campus staff and faculty.Â
- Provide crisis intervention and consultation in student emergencies.
- Serve as a member of the Student Affairs team, working with Student Affairs committees to plan orientation, parents' weekend, leadership retreats and other programs and events.
- As assigned, generate reports using Titanium Schedule to assist in the coordination of clinical care to students
- As assigned, assist center leadership in decision making around appropriate level of care for students
- As assigned, participate in the development of counseling policies, forms, and procedures
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Required qualifications:
- Masters or doctoral degree in social work, clinical or counseling psychology, or counseling.
- Licensed in Maryland as an LCSW-C, LCPC, LGPC, or Licensed Psychologist
Preferred qualifications
- Demonstrated strong clinical skills and experience with college students
- Expertise with serious mental health disorders as well as with issues of typical development
- Relevant personal counseling experience in a college/university setting or equivalent
- Experience in referrals coordination
- Knowledge of and/or experience with a wide variety of mental health services such as in-patient care and the private practice community.
- Knowledge of and/or experience with public and private health insurances
- Sensitivity to and interest in the unique concerns of students involved in artistic pursuits in a highly specialized and demanding educational environment
- Knowledge of current short-term therapy and crisis intervention techniques adapted to a college setting
- Awareness of LGBTQ concerns in mental health, as well as familiarity with international student concerns
- Familiarity with Titanium Schedule or similar electronic health record
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
