Introduction: The Division of Strategic Enrollment and Student Success (SESS) is a dedicated team of faculty, staff, and students who provide impactful programs and services for the CU Denver community. SESS leverages a broad range and depth of academic and student affairs expertise to provide exemplary support. SESS partners with external entities and collaborates with academic and administrative units across the university to foster an unparalleled student experience from admission to graduation. SESS consists of four departments – the Office of International Affairs (OIA); Academic Achievement and Student Success; Student, Community & Engagement; and Enrollment and Academic Services. This position reports into OIA; however, the role is to serve all graduate recruitment for CU Denver – both domestic and international.
Job Summary: The Director of Graduate Recruitment is responsible for developing and executing the annual University of Colorado Denver (CU Denver) graduate recruitment plan that delivers on the strategic goals within the university’s strategic enrollment management plan. The Director will develop a graduate recruitment budget and manage its implementation. The role will also evaluate how schools and colleges are utilizing funds for graduate recruitment, and advise adjustments. This role will collaborate across the university to ensure recruitment and marketing best practices are optimized across all schools and colleges. The Director will also work collaboratively with senior university leadership and key constituents to meet graduate enrollment targets. This position will be working in CU Denver campus downtown building on Lawrence street, working schedule will be hybrid after onboarding and upon approval from supervisor.
Supervision Received: This position will report directly to Associate Vice Chancellor of Office of International Affairs
Supervision Exercised: This position will lead initiatives and work collaboratively with faculty and staff in SESS and the academic units across CU Denver, setting clear goals for those involved and for supporting the achievement of those goals. This position may also supervise professional staff.
Examples of Work Performed:
Serve as primary campus-wide contact for graduate recruitment, including in-person, hybrid, and online programs.
Represent and advocate for graduate programs in institutional marketing, branding, communication, recruitment, and enrollment initiatives.
Develop the annual graduate recruitment plan which optimizes and leverages activities across the schools and colleges.
Contribute to the development and execution of the annual graduate enrollment marketing and communications plan. Fiscal oversight for the annual Admissions operating budget to fulfill strategic international enrollment priorities.
Evaluate and report on return on investment (ROI) of recruitment activities following semester census; implement adjustments to recruitment activities based on ROI outcomes; and provide recommendations for investment in graduate recruitment activities based on research and evaluation.
Collaborate with graduate program directors and recruitment leads in CU Denver schools/colleges to align and leverage graduate recruitment and enrollment efforts.
Track and provide data and analytics regarding the effectiveness of graduate recruitment initiatives through each step of recruitment, admission, and enrollment processes.
Collaborate with colleges/schools and Admissions Operations & Recruitment Technology staff to implement process improvements for maximum yield in new graduate student enrollments.
Develop, inform, and evaluate strategies to increase the volume, strength, and diversity of the graduate applicant pool for masters and doctoral programs across colleges and schools.
Coordinate the strategic approach of enrollment marketing and communications across multiple media platforms for graduate enrollment, in collaboration with University Communications, Admissions Operations & Recruitment Technology, and school/college representatives
Contribute to the development of digital and print marketing and communication collateral such as video, flyers, brochures, social media (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, Instagram), ads, email campaigns, and blogs.
Inform an effective graduate enrollment CRM strategy to ensure operational efficacy with respect to tracking and communicating with graduate program inquirers, applicants and admits for maximum enrollment yield.
Partner with the Office of International Admissions to develop and implement a market-based strategy for international graduate and professional student recruitment.
Establish a strong network and maintain relationships with industries, companies, and undergraduate institutions for the cultivation of strong enrollment pipelines into graduate programs.
Partner with CU Denver Undergraduate Research unit to develop pipelines into graduate programs from undergraduate programs with strong research components.
Provide recruitment data, reports, documentation, and summaries for grants and annual reports at the program, department, and campus levels.
Coordinate resources needed for graduate campus tours.
Serve as the primary representative for CU Denver graduate programs at recruitment events.
Assess external vendor products and services to enhance graduate program marketing, recruitment, and enrollment.
Manage program membership and compliance with WICHE WRGP (Western Regional Graduate Program) for CU Denver graduate programs and certificates.
Collaborate with schools/colleges to develop strategies to recruit students for graduate certificates and non-credit offerings requiring an earned undergraduate degree.
Salary and Benefits: The hiring range for this position has been established at $76,000 - $87,000.
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
The above hiring range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

A bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, business, public administration, health care, educational technology, social science, liberal arts, communications, accounting, finance, library science, or a directly related field from an accredited institution. Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis, but not for the specific experience.
5 years of progressive experience supporting and leading graduate program recruitment, admissions, and enrollment in a higher education setting.
3 years of experience developing and executing admissions/recruitment budgets.
Required: Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Master’s or higher earned degree in any field.
Experience in project management, database use and coordination, research analysis, and evaluation in a higher education setting.
Experience using an enterprise CRM for recruitment and admissions.
Experience developing and implementing recruitment plans, including evaluating plan efficacy, and continuous improvements.
Experience working with a diverse student population (e.g., minoritized, first generation, adult non-traditional, transfer).
