DEPARTMENT OVERVIEWColleges, Housing and Educational Services (CHES) is a multi-funded organization within the Business and Administrative Services (BAS) division at the University of California (UC) Santa Cruz. CHES provides leadership in the areas of college student life and residential services, housing services, facilities, employee housing and capital planning, dining services, conference services, early education services, the Bay Tree Campus Store, ID card services, and business and financial analysis for these areas. Through these units, educational and developmental programs and services are offered to all members of the campus community including students, faculty, staff, children and external constituents.
The Housing Services unit of Colleges, Housing and Educational Services (CHES) provides direct service and programs to 1,100 residents in six Associated Residential Community Housing (ARCH) communities which support single students and students with families. The unit provides comprehensive facilities support to the ten residential colleges, dining services facilities and the ARCH communities. The unit provides numerous other services supporting the campus-wide housing program, including Facilities operations for all of housing and dining, Student Housing Services (Contracts, Marketing and Communication for over 7,900 student bed spaces that generate over $80 million in auxiliary income annually), Diversity and Inclusion Program, and Community Safety Program, as well as off-campus student housing support and summer conference operations.

ches.ucsc.edu JOB SUMMARYUsing professional student services theories and concepts, performs a limited range of duties and responsibilities within a Student Life program. Works independently to provide information and interpretation of clearly defined policies, procedures and regulations. Receives direction regarding more complex issues and / or program(s). Identifies individual student needs for programs and services and advises on appropriate programs and resources.
Under the general supervision of the Supervisor of the Quarantine/Isolation Program, the Quarantine/Isolation (Q/I) Program Coordinator facilitates the transfer of students from their current on-campus or off-campus residential housing into Quarantine/Isolation Housing (Q/I Housing) on-campus or off-campus. The Q/I program provides 7 days a /week support to students who have received a positive COVID test.
The position will provide ongoing support to the students, arranging housing transportation and dining needs during the student's entire stay in quarantine/isolation housing.
The Q/I Program Coordinator will support onsite logistical support at the Q/I Housing location, monitoring, reporting and resolving supplies and facilities issues. Will work closely with many departments across campus including the Student Health Center, Facilities, Custodial Services, Dining Services and Transportation and Parking Services, as well as outside vendors as needed.

JOB DUTIES60% - Quarantine/Isolation Program Coordination - Under the guidance of the program supervisor, faciltiates the transfer of students into and out of Quarantine/Isolation Housing.
- Initiate communication with students in need of quarantine/isolation housing. Assess the student's understanding of the quarantine/isolation housing program and provide clarity as needed.
- Coordinates via phone, text, and email with students, a contactless check-in and check-out of Q/I Housing following all Quarantine/Isolation Protocols.
- Assesses each situation and make recommendations and/or determine appropriate actions/referals as appropriate. May work independently to carry out necessary action plans as situations warrant.
- The Q/I Program Coordinator will provide ongoing support by email, phone and text communication to the students, arranging housing, transportation and dining needs during the student's entire stay in quarantine/isolation housing and will serve as the primary contact for the students and their families.
25% - Quarantine/Isolation Program Logistics - The Q/I Program Coordinator will support onsite logistical support at the Q/I Housing location, monitoring, reporting and resolving supplies and facilities issues.
- Will work closely with campus departments including the Student Health Center, Facilities, Custodial Services, Dining Services and Transportation and Parking Services to ensure that student needs are met. Will also interact with outside vendors as needed.
- As appropriate will notify on-campus quarantine/isolation space occupancy to key campus departments by email or phone per the Quarantine/Isolation Protocol.
- As circumstances dictate, will coordinate housing arrangements for students at approved off-campus hotels/moterls, per Quarantine/Isolation Protocol.
- The Coordinator will perform onsite work at Quarantine/Isolation Housing, both on and off campus, to assess and implement necessary logistical support including supply chain management and/or delivery of special requested/approved items for students, Q/I Housing equipment set-up and support, receiving and unpacking parcels and distributing stock.
- Will coordinate the completion of the quarantine/isolation occupancy with the student and the Student Health Center.
15% - Other Duties as Assigned - Coordinate Quarantine/Isolation Housing quality control measures with university staff.
- Elicit and summarize feedback from students about the quarantine/isolation process and share with the quarantine/isolation team for quality assurance/quality improvement purposes.
- Participate in ongoing training related to the Quarantine/Isolation Housing protocols, procedures and policies.
- May be called upon to provide non Q/I administrative and logistical support functions for Housing Services or College Student Life units.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS - Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
- Strong organizational and problem solving skills with the ability to prioritize a heavy workload, balance concurrent responsibilities and complete assignments under the pressure of multiple deadlines and frequent changes.
- Demonstrated experience and ability in proving excellent customer service.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey details, schedules and special instructions, as well as foster effective communications with campus partner staff, outside vendors, students and their families.
- Skilled in working as part of a team and collaborating closely with co-workers as well as working independently with minimal direction.
- Ability to assimilate complex information, use good judgment, communicate effectively on a one-to-one basis and in small group settings, with campus partners, outside vendors, co-workers, students and their families.
- Demonstrated work experience in diverse communities (e.g., ethnic and cultural, socioeconomic, religious, sexual orientation, and gender diversity).
- Demonstrated ability to develop innovative solutions, strong organizational skills to undertake challenging projects/assignments and respond with flexibility and timeliness to client and campus partner requests.
- Ability to problem-solve with students who present with extenuating circumstances at any point in the process.
- Demonstrated basic computer skills: email, prepare documents, update databases and spreadsheets for tracking and calendaring.
- Ability to exercise judgement and discretion in dealing with sensitive and/or confidential matters.
- Ability to understand UCSC and cultural climate; to exercise good judgement and diplomacy as individual situations warrant.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT - Selected candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment criminal history background check.
- Work schedule will be as follows;
- 4 days per week - 10 hours per day
- Days of week: Sunday to Wednesday or Wednesday to Saturday, as assigned.
