The Senior Pre-Health Advisor (SPHA) reports to the Director of Pre-Health Advising and is a
member of the Pre-Health Committee. As such, in addition to providing one-on-one and group
student advising, the SPHA serves undergraduates, alumni, transfer students, and seconddegree

In individual advising appointments, the SPHA engages with students from their orientation
through their preparation and acceptance to graduate health professions school. This entails

students through regular meetings and helping students with academic recovery skills when
necessary.
Further, the SPHA advises and supports students in participating in profession-specific activities
that confirm to the student and to the admitting schools the student???s decision to pursue their
professional career choice and to help the student identify gaps in their professional school
application process. The SPHA must also maintain a working relationship with offices and
departments across the university, including Advising, Career Development, and the Wellness
Center.
The SPHA serves as a resource to students in the development and submission of their main
and secondary applications, personal statements, school choice, application timing, mock
