Summary of Position: | Under the direction and supervision of the Director of The Office of Multicultural Student Services, the LGBTQ+ Resource Center Representative/Coordinator actively provides resources, support and advocacy to campus community members and allies of the LGBTQ+ community. This position will also provide programming and educational opportunities to campus to help promote an inclusive environment, and increase the capacity of the University to meet the needs of the LGBTQ+ community. | |

Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered: | Three or more years relevant experience programming and advocating for LGBTQ+ communities
Evidence of effective working relationships.
Master’s degree from an accredited institution.
Demonstrated commitment to other underrepresented groups, such as foster, runaway and/or homeless youth.
Demonstrated knowledge of resources and support programming for intersectional identities
Experience in applying for grants and foundational gifts.
Previous higher education employment experience with adolescents or traditionally college aged students.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities: | Lead the day to day operations of the programs and services related to LGBTQ+ Resource Center.
Lead in the development, implementation, assessment, and evaluation of a comprehensive range of services and programs that engage the community and foster a welcoming and inclusive environment.
Manage the LGBTQ+ Resource Center budget and supervise undergraduate student staff.
Assist with researching and applying for grant, foundation, and gift funds to enhance programs and services, as well as training programs for the LGBTQ+ Center.
Mentor and advocate for students throughout their college career.
Provide information, referrals, advocacy, and support to LGBTQ+ students, faculty, staff, and the broader community, and consult with students, faculty, staff and others on LGBTQ+ issues to promote a healthy and safe environment that enhances the educational experience and overall quality of community life.
Actively engage in student advocacy, advising, and support through both one-on-one and small group student interactions, as well as through formal roles on campus connected to broader student impact.
Develop and provide programming, education, advising, information, and other resources from a wide variety of perspectives, taking into account the way that race, class, citizenship, ability, and other markers of identity impact the experiences of sexuality and gender. Serve as liaison between the LGBTQ+ Resource Center and community organizations such as Big Rapids Pride.
Provide programming and resource collaboration for the LGBTQ + and BIPOC populations at Kendall College of Art and Design (KCAD) Grand Rapids campus.
Demonstrates an understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion, especially in working relationships with students, faculty, staff and community members.
