Florida International University in Miami is seeking applications for an Assistant Coach Women's Soccer. FIU is a member of Conference USA and offers eighteen (17) NCAA Division I sports programs. The successful candidate will provides assistance to the Head Coach with activities associated with the program and student athletes, including recruitment, monitoring academic performance and social development, maintaining discipline and development programs, fundraising activities, pre and postconditioning, practice and games. Duties include:
•Provides assistance to the Head Coach with activities associated with the program and students athletes, including recruitment, monitoring academic performance and social development, maintaining discipline and development programs, fundraising activities, pre- and post conditioning, practice and games. These duties may include transport of prospects and student-athletes to events, practices and competitions.
•Assists in the recruitment of student athletes. Negotiates scholarship offers to prospects as directed. Attends off campus games for the purpose of evaluation and contract. Coordinates mailing of recruitment materials and recruiting information. Maintains contact with prospective student-athletes. Plans campus visits with prospective student-athletes and their parents.
•Prepares, plans, conducts and evaluates practice sessions, as directed. Teaches individuals and groups of player specific tasks and skills before, during and after practice, during season and off- season. Teaches player-to-player sport specific skills. Teaches progressions and drills during daily practice.
•Administers travel arrangements for team by completing the following tasks when requested: organizes flights, buses, hotels and meals for all away games; processes all paperwork before and after every trip; creates itineraries and works with opponents to schedule practice times and shoot around times in the opponent's gym. Supervises and assigns responsibilities to team managers and graduate assistants if applicable. Maintains equipment inventory and oversee distribution to athletes. Follows FIU procedure in handling all ordering of supplies and any funds that flow through the athletic program. Plans long and short term team objectives under the leadership of the head coach.
•Coordinates all enrollment activities of student-athletes. Assists with monitoring academic performance, academic progress and class attendance of student-athletes and intervene when necessary in conjunction with the Student Athlete Academic Center (SAAC) staff. Work to complete student's development through graduation by assisting with academic needs. Establishes requirements for student athletes to ensure successful Academic Progress Rate (APR) stats of the program.
•Interacts with various campus offices and departments. Maintain effective communication with the SAAC relating to monitoring academic progress of student-athletes and development of academic improvement strategies for athletes. Serves as guest speaker at public events on behalf of FIU Athletics. Serves in a leadership role and promote participation in community service activities by student athletes. Coordinates community service in conjunction with the Assistant Athletic Director for Student Athlete Development/Community Outreach, as requested.
•Develops competition schedule as requested. Completes all paperwork for competition forms. Works with facilities to secure availability and match dates with games.
•Serves as the liaison between student housing and the athletic program. Works with University Housing to place athletes in on- campus housing, as requested.
•Maintains frequent and consistent public contact with high schools, junior colleges, four year schools and clubs for recruitment, scouting and public relations efforts.
•Represents the University and Athletic Department at professional meetings, alumni events, community service functions, booster club meeting and other events as necessary.
•Responsible for direct interface with all athletic department support units to ensure the successful operation of the athletic program.
•Maintains confidentiality for the department. Treats with utmost confidentiality and sensitivity any matter pertaining to medical, academic and personal data of student athletes and any information either directly or indirectly impacting the University and/or Athletic Department.
•Adhere to all State of Florida, University, NCAA, Conference USA, and department rules and policies pertaining to the position of Assistant Women's Soccer Coach. Report any known NCAA violations or concerns to the Director of Athletic Compliance and be responsible for the monitoring of any subordinate as it relates to NCAA regulations.

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and one (1) year of coaching experience at the high school level or above.
