Position Summary and Responsibilities The Program Manager reports to the Director of the ALANA Center for African American/Black, Latinx, Asian, and Native American Students, and is responsible for supporting and enhancing the lives of our students of color and building links to the broader campus. In addition, the administrator will assist with program planning and management of supportive campus events, leadership development and community engagement for students of color, and engage all students in efforts on antiracist work. The administrator will be working within a supportive environment of administrators and student leaders. This critical leader will advance student inclusion and organize relevant programming so that students may focus on their academic and co-curricular interests in an environment that is affirming and welcoming. The ALANA Program Manager will be an essential member of the Student Growth and Engagement team, charged with caring for students to help them thrive.
Assist the Director and work with the ALANA team in developing and implementing regular programming and other annual/traditional programs including affinity graduation and award ceremonies, orientations events, and provide support for heritage month celebrations
Help with designing and facilitating training on relevant topics as needed or requested by the campus community, including but not limited to, race, and anti-racism
Join the Director in collaborating with faculty and administrators of color to organize student of color programs throughout the year to support students
Partner with the Director to develop strategies and programs for historically underrepresented groups; these programs will promote dialogue, campus engagement, student success, holistic wellness and development, mattering and belonging initiatives and equip students with leadership and career competencies, skills and opportunities
Assist with managing overall marketing and branding of the ALANA Center, including digital, website, print and promotional materials
Advise and provide consultation to students on an individual basis and on-going advocacy for cultural communities to ensure the quality of their academic, social, and personal experiences
Manage program budgets, reports, procurement card expenses and reports, online databases and files for select ALANA-related programs
Other relevant duties as assigned
Bachelors degree in relevant field required. Masters degree preferred.
Three to five years leadership experience in college student development, higher education management or related field, including working with students of color
Outstanding oral and written communication skills
Experience with and commitment to working within diverse students and fostering inclusive communities, specifically knowledgeable of the histories, cultural and developmental issues of Native American/Indigenous, Black, Latinx, Asian/American Pacific Islander (A/API) and multi-racial/ethnic communities
Ability to affirm, advocate for and relate to students from a diversity of cultural backgrounds, using a high degree of judgment and confidentiality
Strong cultural sensitivity
Willingness to continue education and training on various equity topics
Outstanding organizational skills and demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks successfully
Demonstrated experience leading groups, workshops, and facilitating students, faculty, and staff on topics such as cultural competency, equity, inclusion and belonging
Demonstrated competency with social media and content delivery
