The Production Specialist is responsible for building, staging, maintaining, and providing quality assurance for online education courses and online components of hybrid courses across the broad range of Continuum College programs. In partnership with instructors and learning designers, the Production Specialist also assists in the development of new online courses.
The qualified candidate is skilled in the use of content management and learning management systems and is dedicated to providing instructors with high quality support in building and maintaining courses.
RESPONSIBILITIES Assist in development of online courses (40%) Deploy and build content developed by instructors onto online courses in various LMS platforms Integrate media objects from external repositories into online courses Create graphics, tables, and other visual content for online presentation Implement established standards for accessibility and usability Ensure that instructional content adheres to readability, coherence, and style guidelines Monitor and expedite the progress of courses during production, ensuring the courses launch on schedule Perform formal quality assurance checks according to established rubrics
Maintain current online courses (40%) Copy and update courses between terms or from templates Review copied content for correctness, clarity, form of presentation, and suitability for posting Review function of copied sites, including inspecting all course links Respond to technical support requests from students, faculty, or program staff
Collaborative projects (20%) Work on project teams related to implementing new learning technologies Develop documentation related to course production work Collaboratively develop and refine processes for course production Perform other related duties as assigned
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Technical Communications, Communications, Journalism, English, or related field and three years of applicable experience.
An equivalent combination of education and experience is accepted.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Experience in preparing edited content for the web or for educational contexts Basic HTML proficiency Experience using online learning management systems Experience using editing tools for web text and graphics Familiarity with principles for creating accessible and usable web pages Excellent writing, editing, and documentation skills
Desired Qualifications Two years of experience creating interactive instructional materials Extensive experience in quality assurance Strong experience with Canvas, edX, and/or Coursera
