The College of Pharmacy is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Student Services Program Manager. You will Manage student support for the College of Pharmacy's undergraduate, master's, and doctoral programs, currently comprised of programs in Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Clinical Pharmacy Translational Science, MS in Integrated Pharmaceutical Sciences, and BS in Pharmaceutical Sciences program.
Management of undergraduate student affairs 40%: Central contact and liaison to undergraduate students (BSPS), faculty, department chairs, BSPS program director, and deans regarding University and College polices and procedures. Support BSPS committees and program development activities for the success of students in the program. Advise students on program requirements and career options and develop faculty/student connections. Support administrative efforts of faculty with external opportunities for student development. Track student progression and outcomes post-graduation. Advise prospective students external and internal to the U-M College of Pharmacy. Manage orientation for BSPS program and support commencement activities. Act as staff liaison/advisor to the Pre-Pharmacy Student Organization and undergraduate student government liaisons. Act in consulting role for matters relating to event scheduling, budget planning and requests, and policies and practices.
Management of graduate student affairs 35%: Central contact and liaison to students (PhD and Master's), faculty, department chairs, MS program director, and deans regarding Rackham, University, and College policies and procedures; including but not limited to Rackham degree requirements, registration requirements, admissions, enrollment, and international student regulations. Ensure consistent and equitable policy implementation and documentation across all programs; support and recommended processes that provide standards of compliance for the doctoral and masters programs. Provide leadership and direction to the programs' staff as it relates to admissions and student milestone, and Individual Development Plan (IDP) monitoring. Communicate admissions decisions to admitted PhD and MS applicants, maintain electronic student record for graduate students, ensure compliance with Rackham enrollment requirements, and assist with requests for student leave of absences and tracking. Recommend and work with others to develop process improvements, procedures, and policies. Manage college-wide events for graduate students including annual orientation programs, onboarding programs, award banquets, and other graduate student focused events. Other duties as needed to support the success of our graduate (PhD and Master's) and professional students.
Admissions and Recruiting 15%: Support and participate in admissions and recruiting activities to promote programs to prospective students. Support and participate in summer opportunity programs to foster a pipeline to college programs. Support the University and College diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts. Data maintenance, reporting, assessment, and student records 5%: Work closely with College staff and leadership on data reporting and assessment of program objectives. Assist with managing database systems and student data--demographic, ethnicity, grade point averages, student enrollment levels, etc., and report on student admissions, enrollment, and graduation. Respond to University and College ad hoc requests regarding the program. Analyze and interpret benchmarking data and make recommendations to College leadership accordingly.
Website, Student Handbook, and events 5%: Assist with student and course information in the Student Handbook and College website as it relates to the student curricula and degree information. As a member of the Student Services team this position will participate in the planning and execution of all College events as needed and provide back up support to other student services activities as needed.
Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Considerable experience in student services work.
Considerable knowledge of university policies and procedures relating to student affairs and student funding experience.
Strong attention to detail, strong math skills, and strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Demonstrated passion for working with students.
Ability to work independently and to juggle multiple, complex processes efficiently.
Proficiency in MS Excel and reasonable experience with other MS Office applications.
Reasonable experience in MPathways Student systems.
Experience in creating queries in Business Objects or willingness to learn.
Familiarity with UM policies and procedures preferred.
