CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION
The Percy Ellis Sutton SEEK program at New York City College of Technology recognizes the potential in every student, regardless of educational and economic background. Our program introduces students to the culture of higher education and provides services and resources intended to help students envision themselves as successful student learners.
Reporting to the SEEK Academic Services Coordinator, the part-time SEEK Academic Coach will be expected to:
??? Provide one-on-one academic coaching support in areas of time management, test preparation, test anxiety, procrastination prevention, note taking and memorization.
??? Assess students for behavioral or attitudinal barriers to academic success.
??? Help students develop/enhance constructive behaviors and attitudes ( e.g. growth mindset) necessary for academic success.
??? Research and implement creative ideas to attract and retain students for coaching appointments;maintain knowledge of contemporary print and/or online technology resources to use with students.
??? Develop academic skills workshops for presentation in SEEK counselors??? Introduction to College courses.
??? Identify and implement measurable student outcomes for academic success ( e.g. increase in test scores, in study time).
??? Participate in academic service meetings.
??? Develop and maintain strong professional relationships with SEEK counseling staff and tutors;
Bachelor's Degree required.
Professional experience in teaching, academic coaching, and/or tutoring a diverse population of young adults
Excellent communication skills
Commitment to student success
Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment.
