The Office of Clinical Placements & the Director of Clinical Placements The School of Nursing has an outstanding opportunity for a Director of Clinical Placements. This position oversees the newly established Office of Clinical Placements and a team of Clinical Operations Specialists in collaboration with the Graduate and Undergraduate Program Directors and under the direction of Associate Dean of Academic Affairs. The Director of Clinical Placements is administratively responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating all processes, systems, priorities and activities associated with clinical placement of undergraduate and graduate students of the School of Nursing.
Management of Office of Clinical Placements
Placements
Engage in strategic advocacy, planning, and coordination to ensure that undergraduate and graduate student clinical placements meet required experiences and enable students to achieve the expected student learning outcomes. Advocate for School of Nursing clinical placements with internal and external stakeholders, including the clinical placement consortium, UW Medical Center, and other clinical partners. This includes serving on multiple committees and presenting at frequent meetings. Work cross-functionally with school leadership and the clinical placement team to build capacity for undergraduate and graduate student clinical learning opportunities. Develop and implement processes for the Office of Clinical Placements, ensuring collaboration and consistency both internally and externally. Serve on and work with the Quality Improvement Team to develop and execute a systematic evaluation plan for undergraduate and graduate clinical placements. Work collaboratively with L&IT personnel to identify and implement a clinical placement database that effectively streamlines communications across stakeholders and tracks all data needed. Supervise communications with students regarding clinical placement requirements and needs, in partnership with Student and Academic Services. Share the communication and tracking of clinical placement requirements with Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, program directors, track leads, and more. Compliance
Oversee policies, procedures, database tracking, and execution of undergraduate and graduate clinical placements to ensure compliance with all regulations. Develop and implement a clinical placement onboarding program, including fit-testing and distributing PPE (as applicable) for undergraduate and graduate students and faculty. Collaborate with Student and Academic Affairs, program directors, and faculty to communicate with students about clinical credentialing and onboarding requirements. Contracts
Oversee and improve upon clinical contracting processes, ensuring efficiency among internal and external stakeholders, and establishing sufficient clinical learning opportunities. Develop and execute systematic evaluation and routine review of each clinical placement (site and preceptor) to ensure strategic and academic program needs are met. Integrate the clinical placement contract process into broader clinical placement database for reporting and tracking data. Initiate the development, and execution of remote clinical placement contracts, as needed.
Husky Preceptor Program
Envision, develop, and maintain a successful Husky Preceptor Program, including, but not limited to, benefits and rewards programs, training programs, support resources, building and maintaining a dedicated online portal, coordinate award events and celebratory programs, and facilitate affiliate faculty appointments Collaborate cross-functionally to funnel all preceptor activities into Husky Preceptor Program Cultivate and maintain preceptor relationships via frequent contact and personal presence on external committees and meetings that are integral to clinical placement activities
Supervision
Oversee School of Nursing Office of Clinical Placements staff, including, but not limited to, two Graduate Clinical Operations Specialists, one Undergraduate Clinical Operations Specialist, and one Student Compliance Coordinator Establish and maintain the new Office of Clinical Placement organizational structure and staffing, including interviewing for and hiring open positions, in collaboration with the Director of Student Academic Services. Responsible for oversight of day-to-day activities of staff. Evaluate and re-evaluate assignment of responsibilities and adjust as needed. Provide training, assign work, and follow up to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and completion. Provide vision, leadership, and direction for staff development and motivation.
Assessment and Evaluation
Ensure that clinical placement and onboarding communications are succinct, accurate and professionally communicated to faculty, students, and external stakeholders. Develop, implement, and evaluate clinical placement staffing plans. Collaborate with appropriate individuals in an effort to provide continuous quality assurance assessment, including conducting surveys and other forms of feedback to determine if learning outcomes and site expectations are being met.
Miscellaneous
Execute with clear, effective, and open communications to ensure transparency across stakeholders. Provide recommendations to the Director of Student Academic Services and the Executive Team regarding clinical placement activities. Collaborate with many internal and external teams to drive continuous quality improvements and solutions, including surveying and integrating feedback, and ensuring consistent evaluative processes with strategic criteria assessed Other appropriate related duties as assigned

Requirements
Bachelor's degree and 5 years of supervisory/leadership experience in a related field Strong leadership and management skills, including project management skills Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, teamwork, and problem solving skills Demonstrated exceptional time management skills, including the ability to adapt quickly to shifting priorities and prioritize multiple competing tasks in a fast-paced environment Experience and competencies in database management Must be able to occasionally travel for clinical site relationships and be available for occasional work on evenings and weekends Valid driver's license by date of hire
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
Desired
Master’s degree in relevant field Previous work with a College/School of Nursing or other educational program with emphasis on experiential learning Experience in higher education, clinical placements, recruitment, staff supervision and program development and evaluation Experience working with diverse faculty, staff and students
