Position Overview
The College of Liberal Arts (CLA) is seeking a Transfer Student Success Coach to provide personalized support for transfer student participants in the new CLA Stay the Course program. Every year CLA welcomes 1200+ transfer students to the CLA community. Around 40 percent of our CLA students are transfer students, who are more ethnically and racially diverse, more low to lower-middle income, and more likely to be first-generation college students when compared to students admitted directly from high school. The CLA Transfer Student Success Coach will create programs and support strategies that enhance retention, degree progress and career readiness for our low-income, first generation and/or Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) transfer students participating in the CLA Stay the Course program.
With a recent generous donation, we are able to fund this position and provide scholarships to a cohort of transfer students in a three year pilot program. The Transfer Student Success Coach will support seven CLA Stay the Course scholarship recipients each semester and collaborate with the colleagues to create a program to support a larger group (approx. 150-200) transfer student participants around career readiness goals.
The Transfer Student Success Coach will report to the Associate Director of Student Support and Transitions within CLA Undergraduate Education, and they will work closely with the CLA Transfer Advising Team, CLA Career Services Team, CLA Scholarships & Recruitment Team, and colleagues in the CLA Office of Student Experience.
